The team at Pleasurewood Hills are interested to hear YOUR ideas for the future of Tales of the Coast. What would you like to see happen to the attraction? A total retheme? Improvements to the current theme?
The park have come up with some ideas of their own, but are keeping them a secret for the time being.
Firstly, as we have Hobs Pit, I think this should become more family friendly.
So with that in mind, I think a Pirate Adventure style theme would be ace. Whilst pirates are a rather generic theme, you still don't see many rides of that nature around.
It would fit well in that area too, with the Pirate Ship and Moby Dick opposite.
Also, it could help the park cash in with the new Pirate of the Caribbean film coming out in 2016.
There is lots that could be done for this area, personally make it a good thrill area with a new flat for each group - I wouldn't be surprised if we see the water go
Needs some basic TLC to the ride system so it can support more boats. Then it needs a complete overhaul thematically. It could be a really nice ride but it just needs more. In an ideal world I would make the entire thing enclosed but that would no doubt be too costly.
A modern take on a River Caves ride would be interesting, (see Blackpool Pleasure Beach or Southport's now defunct one etc.) but it would probably be seen as unappealing as it wouldn't have the same classic feel the others do.
They could go for a family friendly theme, with some good effects and a decent soundtrack and I think they would be onto a winner.
I personally wouldn't want to see the entire ride enclosed, it's different having a section outside and section inside, you don't see that very often. Maybe extend the enclosed section, but that would be quite costly.
One thing that does need addressing IMO is the speed/flow of the water, it's just too slow. Especially when you have scenes with animatronics etc, they've stopped moving and the boat is still there creating an awkward moment where nothing is happening.
Id take inspiration from the old story book ride and create a huge fariytale land inside, fantasy stuff.. I want to see a giant Cyclops and they'll have to keep the moving dragon in the entrance that sort of thing.
or Willy Wonka's boat ride lol
I wouldn't want to see it filled in and just filled with more flat rides, there's plenty of space already for more flat rides, it's nice to have some variation.

There's nothing wrong with the ride system (maybe a bit slow as Martyn said) so would be a true waste to get rid of it. Fully enclosing it wouldn't be too costly IMO as a tent type structure like on The Black Hole would work. However I agree with Martyn, it's nice having part of it in the open.
I kinda like Martyn's idea of a pirate theme, it's traditional but done nicely it would work in that type of ride - Mutiny Bay type theming with Goonies style indoor treasure caves.

My first post ever on here, Ive been observing for a good few years now.
IMO This needs to stay and here is what side like to see....
. Faster flow of water/boats
.General tidy up of the ride,,grass cut, litter cleaned up
. New theming - I initially thought about a slow "History of PWH' in there ..screens showing the park develop throughout the years and old costumes and characters on show etc but I don't think PWH is big enough to pull this type of ride off. still good idea..
Stick with the dark underground cave theming and as someone earlier mentioned maybe a pirate, smuggler theme to the ride.
would be a shame if they bulldozed it all and put flat rides though..
Thanks guys.
p.s I remember in the early 90s when the dragon came out and in its mouth someone had thrown a roll up!!
oh the good old days of queuing for an hour so for this ride!!
I can't get excited over a pirate theme, I feel it's been done to death but there doesn't seem to be any better options... yet. Could make it a Wizard's cave? Wizards are cool. Still like to see a Brothers Grimm theme personally.

The thing is, has a pirates theme been 'done to death'? Off the top of my head, the Pirates Adventure at Drayton Manor is the only pirate themed dark ride in the UK.
How about some sort of under the sea kingdom or the lost city of atlantis? Could go with the boats still and water theme and be very family friendly. With some cool lighting and smoke machines as you enter and exit the tunnels could be great.
