The old dogems tent has been half taken down it appear, so some work appears to be ongoing in that department, I noticed that there still seems to be no sign of work taking place on Cannonball.

On their site it says parts are getting sorted up in boston so hopefully progress is moving forwards even if we cant see it.

For the first time in a lot of years im feeling positive for the park this year moving forwards...

I visited Bagatelle for the ever time last week, and I have to say, it is LEAGUES ahead of PWH. It actually saddened me to see how much better it was than our park. I enjoyed it that much I would say it's better than Drayton Manor, Flamingo land and Chessington.

It really is great that we got the Rattlesnake back, but that investment is nothing compared to what's going on at Bagatelle. Also, the farm theme must have come from Bagatelle as this year they have added a huge farm yard area with new barn style buildings all over the place (I'm assuming it's a retheme rather than a new area as it was straight as you walk into the park).

The new investments are really good, and they're also spending a lot of money on their old rides too - Gaz Express has a complete repaint with tons of new buildings and theming added - including water, mist and fire effects!

I had an awesome day, but I left feeling really sad for PWH, because its obviously that Loopings dont really care about it.

I have to agree with that, its hard to believe they are even owned by the same people...

On a side note, did anyone see this article (dated back to the 11th of April)? Apparently an 11 year old had her birthday ruined because she got stuck on a ride. Personally i'm errr... struggling to find any sympathy given the nature of the article.

Yes fairly sure I mentioned it or posted the link calling it a slow news day... as for the difference in parks we don't get the gate figures needed to have a bucket load of cash spent on it, yet you need to spend to attract so who knows

It's because they own PWH for tax reasons, there;s no other reason for them to own it as it doesn't turn a profit bit even if they threw money at it.. although it might help.

I've often wondered if PWH would be better off adopting the token style like Yarmouth?

I can't get my head around the apparent lack of investment in PWH because surely the fact that its the biggest park in East Anglia would make it worthy of investment? It has no direct competition because GYPB isn't marketable as a theme park and Thorpe park is far enough away that if they started investing they would increasingly be seen as the key park in the area (and possibly draw people away from Merlin to an extent.

Thorpe park is on a good run 3 hours away and worth the drive every time...

tax reasons is spot on by bubbles...

Connor yes some serious investment needed couple more flats adult thrill at the least and the fixing of what we have but it wont happen

I've just banged on a load in another thread to be fair so will end now. !

In my mind Thorpe and Alton have gone seriously down hill recently, the main reason being that Merlin don't have to put any effort in because they have no competition. Look at Colossus as an example, probably 10 years overdue for a repaint. Then there's Th13teen at Alton (effects broken), Oblivion (only 1 station being used for as long as I can remember and the queue was in a right state last time I was there) and various other shortcomings at all 3 parks (Thorpe, Alton and Chessington). Oh, and how did I forget? New accommodation for 2019 at the UK's biggest theme park, cramped sheds in a field! Yes, the attractions obviously far surpass all other UK parks, but that's not an excuse for the rubbish that is happening at Alton or Thorpe. In an ideal world, if PWH or other smaller parks invested then Merlin would get a wake up call, though its probably not that simple.

Yeah Pirate Ship was being worked on Monday, Heard rumours that Hyperdrives future at the park is limited. But lots of positivie trip advisor reviews recently. Hopefully the owning group will continue to invest in the park.

Interesting news with HyperDrive.. the park does need at least one dodgem ride.. maybe once they've refurbished the mini ones which everyone seems to life they'll dump Hyper .

Ttt has to be the logical place to chuck a cheap flat for the year

Hyper Drive is in an odd area really. Removing it will just reveal the Train and more concrete... if HD goes, then the train probably should as well, then they could landscape the area and stick in a flat.

Actually, that plot of land would make a good spot for a Ferris Wheel, although I cant help but think that a wheel would look good by the lake.

Realistically, the park needs 2 more spin and spew flats - to replace TTT and Fireball. Could also do with a S&S Space Shot, Star Flyer, and Ferris wheel. Very basic rides, but could really do wonders for our little park.

Imagine that skyline view as you pull into the car park, Jolly Roger, Wipeout, Big Wheel, Star Flyer..... would certainly get the little ones excited.

Nah the park needs to go retro with stuff like a Troika and Enterprice.. good family friends old school classics. Give the park some personality and let it stand out from other parks.
There's no change of them getting a Star Flyer.. i don't think they would consider it kiddie friendly.

^ might look neat in your head, but I dont think the GP will buy into it. Both Rattlensake and Waveswigner brought up comments from the GP about them being not being new as PWH has had them before. Heck even with Marble Madness some people were saying what's the point as its the same as the Magic Mouse...

That's not the general public, you're talking about a few theme park enthusiasts, PWH can't worry about that minority they just to make sure people have fun, want to visit and want to return. The vast majority were in favour or the Eggexsperess, waveswinger and MM, regardless of what enthusiasts say, The Hills isn't really targeted towards them anyway.

The park hasn't been 'modern' for about 20 years either. it's part of the charm and appeal but it would be so much better if they embraced.. Sadly we currently have a over sized Joyland, and previous years a poor mans Pleasure Beach, nobody want either of those and it's never really kept with the times, it's never had the budget.

Public love the old stuff, history, retro, and nostalgia. it works with the Hills because it's already most of those things, without even trying.

Would a star flyer even be viable given proximity to the coast?

An enterprise would be perfect for tide travellers spot, its a bit of an insult to know that PWH's own enterprise returned to be painted for another park in the chain when we don't even have flats that function properly...

I honestly don't think they would even look twice at one, it doesn't really fit their image if they're going with family stuff, kinda middle of the road thrills, (plus they look ugly)

They could get one of those Enterprise that Dreamland has.. classic in style but modern enough to keep the Martyns happy? lol personally i prefer the original as there's less chance if losing my shoes lol
