This ride could be really effective and needs a refurb. Fingers crossed they do something decent with it. Why not combine the fairy tale ride with it or make it a spooky boat ride.

Pitch black - that might actually be scary!

I'd love PWH to contact Sarner about refurbing this ride. They have done some great rides i.e. Over the Hill at southend or Valhalla at Blackpool both of which are very good rides.

A refurb of this HAS to be on the cards. They're basically letting it rot and not spending a single penny on repairing anything. Hopefully its on the card for next year, but even so, I'd close it now to be honest. Its really really poor, and I cant see anyone coming off of it thinking it was a good ride.

To be honest - they should look at giving it and extension. put some real money into it. rebrand - reboot - new ride!

To get the ride up to a modern day, decent dark ride standard would cost loads of money.....

Plus add in the fact half the boats have been scrapped. I'm sure there used to be more!

There use to be loads and they had their roofs on too...lol... and the pump wheel and water that use to go round so nice - does this still work ? the attraction has been left to rot and fairytale will be next...

Its a great shame but IMHO its these rides that make the park quirky and unique!

I think I would prefer a decent scenic boat ride than a shoddy dark ride.

I really think this should be closed and a rethink done on it all. The entrance could be themed to be closed if you get me so it does not look too bad- yes it is a potential for something else to be SBNO and not being replaced yet the attraction needs some serious cash now - even more so if this news hobo heard is true ?

They could easily board it up and stick a sign on about "future developement" or "new attraction coming 2013" etc. And to be honest, I'd be happy if they did do that. Its one less ride yes, but it is a bit of a joke really, and has been on the recieving of a few negative comments on the FB page.

IF a refurb is on the cards for next year, then it would make sense to just close it now.

And it also gives them more time to make sure its completed in time for next year.

TOTC has a new squeeky moving model.... WD40 still needed. only 2 boats being used yesterday, with huge queues of unhappy peeps.

Tales of the Coast - Investment in 2014
Permalink Closed

I've not been on this version of the boat ride (other than seeing a youtube video)
The impression i get from people is it's pretty naff,  dunno if that's true?

So lets say it's getting a make over soon....   what do you want to see?

EDIT BY JOSH JANUARY 2014:

TOTC will be getting some investment for the 2014 season.  Please use this forum to discuss.

Well now that the kids fantasy type ride has gone, I guess it would make sense to turn into a kids dark ride.

I'd like to see the whole ride enclosed by the tunnel.

They could put the story book theme in there, although it would need a lot of changes.
instead in individual displays like the original they would need to all blended together.

Nice lush landscape, towers, villages and all those fairytale things.

Or just base it on the Grimm tales, would be fun trying to sport everything.
So you could have Rapunzel's tower in the woods, but you'd also see Red hiding hood somewhere close by, so they're all mixed up together. could even have the wolf jump out as you pass.

OR. Make it into a Willy Wonka thing, be like the boat ride around the Chocolate room lol with all weird and wonderful things going off.
Woody Wonka ride lol maybe not.

I like the tales of the coast idea - it just needs a massive revamp.

The north Norfolk coast can be pretty bleak - why not create something educational. Sights , sounds, smells .

Smugglers........

It needs thunder lightning, rain effects, spray, mist etc. Video projections. It could be quite cool and unique!

Have real voices of local people ( ex fishermen) etc used as the voice over.

I think that would be a great addition to the Moby Dick, Pirate Ship, Jolly roger theme.

Ben - I am available to discuss rights to my idea should you wish to use it.
