Never understood the ' Jolly roger' name for that ride.... thought that was a flag. Or am I being stupid?

LOL!

Whilst the idea may be original, we now have a creepy dark ride which clearly isn't going anywhere anytime soon. I think this now needs to be for the little ones.

I REALLY like quirky kids dark rides, like Bubbleworks @ Chessington:

The music, theme and lighting, from start to end, it almost perfect. Its such a FUN ride, especially for kids. I'd love to see PWH go down this route, but maybe with a toy factory theme?

I didn't watch it all as I've never been on it and don't want to ruin it but from what I saw it was excellent. I think it is a lovely ride and TOTC would be so much nicer with a light hearted theme for kids - perhaps a fully enclosed circuit too?

So Ben has confirmed that TOTC will be getting some investment this season. I assume it won't be getting a full retheme...what do you guys think will be done to make it better?

Maybe something for younger one as well. The Aladdin ride though outdated was enjoyable for children. TOTC was a bit scary when I took my niece and nephew on. Maybe a 'Jolly kid friendly Pirate theme'?

I don't think it's going as far as a retheme. If one day it does get redone it would be nice to see the whole track covered and a really right fun theme. Alternatively, just get rid of the building altogether, put the awnings back on and have a pleasant maybe IP themed ride. I used to enjoy the simple storybook theme they had.

Staff training on filling up the boats is a must. On rides like that you need a confident ride op who can organise the guests properly and increase throughput. It's very slow otherwise.

It's nothing to do with staff training, they reason the ride Ops only allow two or three people on is because they've been told to, due to the state/condition of the ride. It can't handle anymore people at a time, hopefully this is what some of the investment will be out towards.

I was told that you could get 6 in a boat, reduced down to 4 for the Halloween event.

Anyway if it is just 4 I was standing in line back in June watching the ride op sending round 2 people because the next bundle are a 4 and not shouting up the line for another 2! That erks me. I was wrong to say its training because I know they're told to do it but it's more down to the ride op either not being bothered or not have the confidence.

But I don't think it fair to blame the operators, if they've been giving instructions to only allow so many per boat.
It might be a weight issue is all I can think of, it's a pity we don't get an official word on this.

I am blaming them when they send around 2 people in a boat made for 4. As I've said I've been in the queue where2 people have got in and the operators has asked the next in line who say they are in a group of 4. Instead of shouting up the line for a group of 2 he just lets them go around as a 2. For a slow throughput ride anyway this just makes it worse.

It's a throughput machine! ;) we clocked it at Halloween with an average dispatch of 134 seconds between boats and an average rph of 107! Haha...

I've merged the two TOTC threads we had going. Is anyone seriously expecting significant improvements?

Unless it's a full retheme I can't see it being much better tbh.

If they spent a bit of money to fix the boats and get more people in then far enough it's really low priority stuff at the moment.
Either go all the way or no bother I say. They could easily start working on it during the summer, nobody would mind if the ride is closed for the year. (it's not worth going on or keeping open anyway)

They could aim for a complete re-theme to open for Halloween, that'll grab peoples attention, doesn't have to be Halloween themed I just think it would be a good event to debut a new ride like this.

yes i agree it could be SBNO for 2014 and i dont think it would make any difference to anyone. It could become a good site for a furture bigger adult ride

The boats can run with six people which is full capacity. But often they don't. The ride is a joke at the moment. If the investment improves it then I'm all for it but I feel it is money wasted when it should be left until a full retheme or rethink can be done.

I 100% agree, a properly working pirate ship is very thrilling.

I don't think any ride on park should be left SBNO unless it's totally broken and beyond repair for a long period of time. Having rides sitting there in operational just looks bad.
