Are the theming details on cannonball express being added later in the season? I hope so because I didn't notice anything today apart from a small amount of audio. In other news, fireball was running very well (as was wipeout) and the new play area looks well put together (kids all over it). Rattlesnake was just sitting there boarded up.
I could be wrong, but from what I've heard, that may be all of the changes we can expect for the Cannonball Express.
When the park recently posted the "Pirate Radio" video, I had thought we may be getting a proper Pirate themed area...
The Pirate Ship + The Jolly Roger + Cannonball Express (with reference to ships cannons, perhaps?) + Pirate entertainers. But sadly, I don't think that is the plan. I believe the Pirate Radio entertainers will, instead, be popping up at various intervals around the park.
So in other other words, Cannon ball didn't get much theming just audio, and the entertainment the park was bragging about is people riding around on bikes with radios while dressed as Pirates? lol.....
....I'm not saying anything.

I think the bikes had the radios anyway (was inside the gift shop by wipeout when they went past). It defiantly wasn't maintenance on their bikes anyway.
(Edit: Just remembered that the dive show stuff (bits of the pool and some random chairs) was just sitting there from last season (saw it from the train)).

Possibly just a rumour, but I have read online that the former Merry Mariner restaurant is due to be converted into an indoor play centre. If true, I think it's a good idea, as indoor attractions are few and far between these days.
I still think the park definitely needs another indoor food outlet though, but perhaps the Merry Mariner was larger than the park generally needed.
Interesting.... whilst on the surface of things, that's a good idea. Only downside is that indoor play areas need to be at least 2 levels to incorporate slides etc, and the Merry Mariner was quite a low building really.
They could build a new building for it which would make sense. Otherwise as Martyn says it would be a bit limited judging by the size of MM. They should look towards Devons Crealy or Peppa Pig world for inspiration - 2 very good examples of how to do it. That is of course if the rumour is true.
Now that is an interesting development. By ''all year round'', I presume this means it will be open to the public even when the main park is closed? Unless they are just promoting it's ''all weather'' capabilities?
Christmas opening is an interesting one too. I wonder how well that used to go all those years back? With better indoor facilities,I guess they will be much better placed to do winter events again.
If it really is to be open all year, I'd say they'll definitely be doing work to Mariner's building to make it bigger. Who would want to go all that way for a play area that's quite small? To attract people when the park is closed, it's going to have to be BIG.
I like this new guy already. Pleasurewood always used to be about the "other" attractions, not just rides, so it's good to see them adding things like this.
wow an all year indoor attraction... another one of my ideas iv'e been banging on about, for years, (along with the playground relocation... someone at the hills is listening) *wink*
Inside the castle? It's big enough. if it's open all year wouldn't they want it near the entrance to stop people from just wondering around the park? If MM is getting a revamp it'll need a second floor, maybe an extension.. 'coming soon' to me means this year, but they might mean next year which gives them plenty building time.. their next big investment. The old playground site could also be a contender for a new construction, but i can't see them building one from scratch.
Plus MM isn't far from main street, and they might keep some of the other attractions open (mini railway, Carousel, arcade ) like they do at Blessingham
Not sure about opening for Christmas, doesn't that make it harder to get rides fixed and maintained? i would guess not all rides would be open? if they're opening for Halloween,Christmas and Easter there would be no point in talking jolly down or putting any trains in storage... maybe they're not doing Halloween anymore? that would make sense.

If I remember correctly, there weren't any rides open at all for the previous Christmas event. It would make sense to open a select for sure. The main event could be at Main St somewhere, and they could then open a select few rides from the entrance, up to Main St, like Moby Dick, Waveswinger, Hyper Drive, Carousel and Miniature Railway. That's a good solid family selection.
Oh and we'll thought of with the castle for the indoor play area.... that actually makes a lot of sense, and would be HUGE, and closer to the entrance. But it's already been rumoured that the Mariner will become a fun house before we saw this leaflet.
Miniature Railway use to be open on previous Christmas events i was told by one of the drivers.
If Mariner becomes a fun house, then the castle could be an indoor play aria, the size would justify being open all year.
Plus, that mini railway has to pass though the castle, they could move the station to the castle, then they could keep it open all year with the play aria, (if it's located there) again the mini trains at Blessingham are open during Christmas periods and they're far more substantial. PWH would need to add a carriage or two to make it worth wild. I think it's a neat idea.

I don't think a Fun House and a play area are the same thing at all. A play aria has slides, climbing frames, nets, balls, and other cool stuff. A Fun house is a one way system featuring moving floors, mirrors and stuff like that.
