But those few houses are still closer then the nearest house was to the Rattlesnake.. they will fight any noisy ride the hill wants to put there, the gardens to those houses go right to the fence along the mini railway line, i remember talking to one of home owners through the fence, him and his grandson were watching the trains go past, he told me it right on his garden and it was noisy. So they may have a few limits (hence they have that quite rubber boat slide there, and left the rest empty)
"Fantastic new entertainment" must mean a new show.. that's great i wonder if it'll be in the Castle.

Bubbles, what are you talking about? Have you actually looked? The nearest house to the Merry Mariner area is twice the distance of the nearest house to Rattlesnake....
You only have to use google maps and you can clearly see theMerry Mariner just as close. In fact it's CLOSER to the nearest house than what Rattlesnake is. First image shows the Rattlesnake.

Right, I must ask, what's the point in running a business (i.e. the park) if all of the houses are there? I mean on the off chance of PWH being able to afford a nice B&M or something, what would be the chances (with suitable space etc.) of them getting the planning for it? Look at Phantasialand for example. They are very close to houses. Would PWH be much different in that regard?
they would be limited to what they can do on that corton long lane edge yes. although the beach end houses were of course there long before the park was. the rattlesnake end ones were built after the park
So, reading between the lines on Facebook, it sounds like this year could see the return of "The Cannonball Express" name. I'm doubtful that we will see 2 trains on the track this season, but I wonder if we will see the return of a bit of themeing to the ride?
Well they painted Enigma last year, if they're doing some theming this year maybe you'll get a second train next year? Maybe they're seriously thinking about fixing it as they've already lost one coaster.
They've probably just repainted the Train and did some new signs like with Rattlesnake the year before it died. It's good to see they doing some cleaning up if they're not having any new rides.. the recent changes are quite exciting, i wish we knew more about what they're future ideas are.

Just saw that. Assuming again, but they are also giving the impression that 2 trains would be a possibility, I don't think I've seen them be so open to that idea before (though maybe they'd rather give hope than disappoint).
Pretty much confirms that - at the very least - we will get a rename!
Sorry to double post but in my opinion the Merry Mariner site would make a great place to have an indoor soft play area. This is one area the park just fails at; Crealy's, Paulton's etc have great indoor play areas - gets people out of the rain, lets parents grab a breather and a coffee while the little s let off steam. Fort Fun used to provide in this area as that had outdoor and indoor play.
I had to laugh at a facebook reply the park gave about the quality of their food.
We're really sorry about the lack of food available on your last visits; the park has recently got a new general manager, Adam, and he takes the quality of the food on offer for our guests very seriously.
First thing they do, close their biggest and most popular restaurant, maybe it just being painted or new kitchen fitted? might only be temporary costed for the spring... is this possible?

I totally agree with this. In wet weather, there are a very limited number of places where you can go to keep dry. I spent ages running around fort fun as a kid, and i'm sure the little ones of today would be equally happy to do the same!
Their social media presence is awesome at the moment, the amount of attention their Facebook posts are receiving is testament to that! God knows why that Liam was so against it!
One thing you have to think of Bubbles, the distance may be the same, but there are so many more trees bynthe Mariner to block out a lot more sound. That, plus the Rattlesnake was possibly the loudest ride in existence. Anything new won't be anywhere near as loud.
Think I mentioned this before, but that Tivoli place in Aarhus, Denmark has noise 'cancelling' (for lack of a better word) walls around a lot of their coasters. I wonder how effective would they be around the park perimeter?
A few trees won't make much difference, considering you can here the park more than a mile away.
While i take your point that the snake was loud, (i had to work underneath the tunnel when it was open, i know all about the noise) But now they've moved the playground we have a nice plot of land for any large, noisy rides.
There's a new quiet things that could do down there instead.. maybe a good place for a new boat ride?

theres a reply to a post on their fb page saying there is practically a whole new management team this year, and they have invested alot in the rides to prevent breakdowns this year? they do seem to have finally woken backup to social media, any body popping the question about TTT? what do we think?
Yeah the current management really seem to care! On Facebook they gave out the Managers email, so I took it and send him email! Just introducing myself because of the Maniacs page! He replied like an hour later, very welcoming and even invited me to have a chat with him!
Martyn,
Thank you for your email and insight.
It is clear that there has been a lot of silly decisions made over the years in the park and not enough focus on future proofing the business.
It is an exciting time for Pleasurewood Hills and I am really looking forward to taking the business on a great, evolving journey.
Please do call in and say hello – it would be great to talk face to face.
Very cool response. I hadn't realised the management team had changed but it seems that Adam is on the ball and hopefully not blind to what the park needs. Be interesting to see what's afoot for the park.
