"If i'm spending £17 for a PHW ticket i'm making sure i get a full day out of it...
Sadly there aren't enough rides, or variation anymore."
Both of them comments are pretty implying that you don't think it's good value. Plus various other comments all over the forum complaining about almost every aspect of the park.
yes because £17 for half a day would be expensive, Hence id make sure i make a day of it. Even if i don't go on anything, it's nice just to wonder round and enjoy the atmosphere.. but half a day which is basically 3 hours it wouldn't be worth it.. not too me anyway.
Plus, it's more then £17 for the vast majority of people as they take a family.. even more reason to make a day of it.
As for value for money, that depends on your preference, if you go alone then maybe not, but with a family you'll benefit form all the kiddie rides and stuff so maybe you'd think it is good value. Value for money is different for different people regarding what they want from the day. As long as i get a full day out of it i'm more than happy to pay £20.. for myself.
Yep, i'm not the only one complaining, although not as much/harsh as others, but we've had good reason to, it's been a bit of a mess the past couple of years.

Nope.. shows we care, gotta vent that frustration.
Always hoping the park proves us wrong... but the last time that lad a laser maze ride it didn't last long and was very unpopular.

I've been keeping an eye on the forums leading up to the opening of Rootin Tootin Target Trail and if I'm honest I've been a little shocked at the general negativity, more so from the people 'jumping on the band wagon', making unjustified comments just to stir things up (typical of most social media outlets). The reason I am only now adding my thoughts is that I've been under contract with Pleasurewood Hills to revamp the Hobs Pit attraction into its new guise and as such I've not been able to make comments until now. I would really appreciate it if people would give PWH a chance and try out the new ride before adding further comments. I'm sure there'll still be a few that will be critical whatever they think but I'm sure that most will change their minds once they've experienced the change. I believe this is the beginning of a positive period at the park and I wish them all the best with the future!
I don't believe anyone here is stiring things up or jumping on an band wagon.. much of the negativity is down to some of the very odd decisions the park has done in recent years, but more so down to history. Plus it's a bit odd that time and money and effort wasn't spent on making Hobs Pit good again.
We have been giving the park a chance, many of us have been supporting the park for many many years regardless what happens and will continue to do so, it's just be a bit harder recently with what's been going on at the old place.

Entirely agree with Dodoharvey; there have already been a significant amount of decent improvements to the park since the start of the year and as I understand it, there's a whole bunch still to come. RTTT I think is thematically the strongest ride in the park now and a clever move for PWH.
There certainly seems to be a good deal of activity going on now, which I hope will continue. After a good few years of substantial investment in things like Hobs Pit and Marble Madness, it was disappointing to see the park go through a sustained period of much more modest investment.
The park lost a dark ride, theatre show and family rollercoaster and only gained an unnecessary second set of dodgems and a Waveswinger. However, things are definitely happening again and the approach is clearly to attract a younger family market rather than thrill seekers.
For the purposes of balance, it's probably worth mentioning that in the ''good'' investment years, the park also saw the arrival of the short lived laser labyrinth, the unsuccessful introduction of conferencing facilities and the ''Pleasure you can measure'' campaign. So it wasn't all positive then, either!
I've always said The hills have always wanted to be a big Joyland and that's what's happening for better or worse.
But adults still attend (part of the family) many teens go.. school trips and for theses people there's not a lot for them, the park was really good fun when i was a teenager, plenty for ALL the family.. but i can see why people only stay for half a day.
They only have about three thrill rides.. the park just needs more variation. They really do need another mini coaster to replace Rattlesnake (not a kiddie one)
And i thought the Waveswinger was much welcomed addition, perfect for the park, looks great nicely installed.. i just didn't understand why they bulldozed the boat ride for it.. no need for that.
Anyway, lets hope they fill up that old playground space with something fun next year.

I don't fancy hiring out the park, but it makes sense to offer these sorts of things (and sounds pretty unique). They're paying for the land, why not make as much use of it as possible and try to find the most profitable sideline uses (also regarding the Christmas shows)?! I dubious as to whether any of these will work out, but time will tell I guess... :P
All seems like good ideas to me, if it helps them make money the better. I've always said they needed other way to make cash, it people are willing to hire then go for it. And about 5 years ago i said they should consider and all year playground/centre.. good to see someones listening.. although they haven't took up my fishing idea LOL
And i also noticed Punch And Judy are back.... so someone is definitely listening. :)
I hope they make it permanent and make a proper booth/stage instead of the pop up one, anyone know who the performer is?

A weeks trial of a ten pound entry for non major ride entry. For a tenner you get the shows, chairlift and trains. You can upgrade once in the park. Trial starts today 1st August
From a customer satisfaction point of view, this is definitely a good move.
From a money making point of view, i'm not so sure. For this to work, the park need to entice ADDITIONAL family members to come along. If the same family groups still visit, the park will only lose money on the people who would have begrudgingly paid the entry fee anyway.
Saw the Punch and Judy show the other day. Not very good to be honest. Very tatty and had no mic so kids couldnt hear him. It's says on the clock his name is Professor Moon. Googled the show and he was at Banksy's Dismaland!
I agree with everything that Matt has said regarding this lower entry fee for a non rider. Although I think £10 might be a bit high. But then the loss of revenue might be too much.
They need to do this to bring extra people into the park, as opposed to having less people pay full price.
It's a good idea but I think it needs to be accompanied by a decent marketing campaign, where it's more aimed at like a "bring your granny along" type of thing.
As it is, including the shows and transport rides, too many mums will just opt for the cheaper ticket to save money. Remove all attractions and I think that may alienate people from getting the cheaper option.
I was chatting to mike wallis a few weeks ago in his Yarmouth shop, just an awesome bloke.
Sad to hear their current show is a bit naff, pity they don't do it in house. Mr Punch and Co have made a mighty come back in recent years.. it seems to be quite popular again.
Yes i recall Bubbles on the forum suggested a non ride ticket option a few weeks ago.. it's the sort of thing my mother or grandmother was do.. that way they could come with the family, not feel left out and not have to worry about paying full price (they'll have more money for food and ice creams) lol
It may also encourage more people to take their kids who wouldn't normally do. there's not a great deal for adults anyway so they'll probably be quite happy just watching and stuff and let the kids do the rides. I know a couple of people who have never took the kids to PWH and an offer like this might be enough for them to do it.. not all adults want/like to do rides.
Plus with more people on park they might flog more food, drinks and gifts instead.
but how will it be enforced? a family might buy one adult full ticket and share it between them? or two full tickets and share between the whole family. i think the idea is great but it may need to be tweaked a little bit, but that's what trials are all about.. good to see some forward thinking.

As I understand it, Bubbles, riders will be given Wristbands and non-riders will not. Operators will simply check for wristbands as they let people on.
The park are certainly making an effort to promote their non-rider offer. I heard a radio ad on The Beach a few times today as I was driving around for work.
The burger meal offer is great value and it's great to see that they're experimenting with things like the non rider offer. What's also really positive is that they have had really great interactions on social media about this with loads of shares and comments! People seem to be very positive in their reactions and it's hopefully ping wonders for the parks reputation.
certainly feels the park has woken up this year, very busy, very active and made some nice changes this year. i'm very much looking forward to what they've planed next year.

Yeah there's certainly a lot of activity going on at the Hills at the moment.
I might not agree with it all, but it's good to see so much time and money being put into the park.
When I say I might not agree with it all, I'm looking at things like this Birthday Barn, Christmas event and hiring the park out. I'd rather see that money invested in improving the park for the normal day to day operations. Both the Rattlesnake and TTT could have/can be fixed. Plus there's the annual moan about Cannonball being on one train. But the biggest thing for me, is just how dilapidated the bottom end of the park now looks. Yes they've made nice improvements with paint, but the Snake is still there boarded up and the Dodgems still look like they bought in from a war zone. Compare this to how smart the main street area is looking?
The indoor play area is a good idea, but I'd also like to see them invest in a new outdoor play area. The ones we have are either pretty old or just not very good. Some the play parks in European parks are huge and a lot of fun for adults too. The park has always had a bit of a European charm to it as it's always looked really pretty with nice landscaping, and some unusual rides. With this new direction it's heading in, a big ass play area should be a must.
Now i don't have problems with the Birthday Barn.. they use to do birthdays before and if it's used it makes them money and if it's not used they haven't lost anything.. it's only a shed anyway lol And renting the park out seems like a great idea.. again they don't lose if it's not used but should make them a little cash when is done.
I'm not fussed about a Christmas show, id prefer to see a show in the castle during open season.
It's good the park are looking at other ways to entertain and make money.
