RE: Your ideas for the future?

Hillbilly Moonshine was just a generic shotting game, and can probably be found in every park all over the world.

Though in saying, it was pretty legendary at PWH.

It fitted in perfect by fort fun..

Hobo does it still work properly ??  Must admit never go over that way as refuse to pay for extra things like go karts - still think that area could be used so much better - no houses there !!

^ You're silly to do that, because PWH Go-karts are the best park go-karts I've been on.

I agree, the whole Go-Kart area does need a proper refurb. It looks very run down and.... random? Is that fire truck still there? And the country western style facades?

Go-karts take up so much space, and people do get hurt on those things.
That part of the park used to be so much fun... I don't care how good the Karts are they've sucked a lot of the fun out of the park.

And Hillbilly Moonshine shooting game is always a good laugh.. as sideshows go it's a nice attraction, would help to bring back some of that friendly vibe the park has lost, as the crowed gather to watch... or get squirted with water lol.

Pull the go karts up and you've got a nice Coaster location, OR turn it into the kiddie zone.. or something else, that whole main street, main square section should be the heart of the park.

Sorry chaps... i'm anti-go karts at PWH, I also have mixed feelings to the dodgems... lol

When you say the gun game is still there do you mean that it's still there? To play on I mean. They are generic but I think they're cool nonetheless.

The Hillbilly Moonshine thing is still where it always was, isn't it?

I was talking with someone who was at the park back then, they mentioned Rank. I didn't even know they were involved until today. I used to work for Rank in 1998. Apologies if I'm wrong, I'll try and get confirmation. :)

Looking back at your post, I don't mean Leisure Great Britain. I did mean The Rank Leisure Group. On a totally different note and probably not for this thread, but. Who remembers Pleasurewood Hills: Cleethorpes? I'm assuming that is what has become Pleasure Island?

Yeah, though that technically never happened. R.K.F. Group P.L.C (who owned PWH at the time) went bankrupt during the construction of the park, and the peeps who owned Flamingo Land took over and opened it as Pleasure Island.

Ahh that's what I heard too. -  I found a truck load of promotional matirial from 1991. It was a £10m project back then > More Like £15m today. Wowzer!

Clearly it's not common knowledge. I can't name every little town, and village.
I don't 'do' holidays, or sea sides, beaches and as a rule 'theme parks'
So unless you're into that kind of thing you wouldn't really know of it... it's part of the county that's usually closed ;)

Original press releases and Promotional Leaflets for the venture. If I didn't know better, It looked and sounded like it had opened! - Joe Larter is writing a book, so I'm hoping to tie him down shortly to get all the story about what actually happened.

I'm pretty certain its not the same as it used to be, its like an updated version now. And nowhere near as interactive. But that's not PWH fault, that's down to how they're made nowadays compared to years ago.

Funny story this. Over the years the Hillbilly Moonshine has become part of the Arcade concession. We think this happened circa 1991 when Rank Leisure owned the park who also managed arcades and that the arcade concession typically maintained the attraction. This is where it got a bit mixed up. We're looking into getting this back to run. :)

LGB took over in 1997.....

Then we had Queensborough or summit for a bit before peter and peggy came back to rescue it

back in 1991 it was still haddens/tony shorthose and possibly still Joe in ownership.

I think the arcade in main street was robbed of how great it was late 90s... i remember from my time of working there that hillbilly and other things did come after arcades but i also thought arcade was always a private thing to PWH

It's a seaside town in North-east Lincolnshire.

Why would I know that? I've never been to Lincolnshire, i'm not a bloody sat nav.
Didn't even know it was a place.. I thought that was the name of the park or something.

It's just fairly common geographical knowledge is all...

And it is very interesting to think about it and wonder what might have been!

A sort-of-secondhand Intamin 'shoot the chutes' has come up for sale, for around £300,000.

It's a few yeras old but it was never built up, so it's still technically new. And it's only 23m high, so no need for planning permission ;)
