Facebook showed the dive show as starting yesterday with a pic and video, although one comment seemed to suggest it was not on as they said they were gutted they missed it as it was not on. Another long comment says how the park looks a mess with paths that lead nowhere, scrapped rides on full public view and no advertising of Wipeout or enigma ?!

The poster also claims that enigma is thought to be the oldest steel coaster in the UK can we verify this ? The review goes on to say that they have disabled 4 star reviews although his claim of investment with nothing new since 2007 is clearly wrong.

The review mentions how the base of TTT is still on full show too and how the rattlesnake is surrounded in run down boarding, he ends by saying the park will go the same way American adventure did

I can't find this comment, where exactly is it?

Needless to say, other than TTT and Rattlesnake still being in the park, they got a lot of their "facts" wrong.

Not sure where to put this yet a interstimg piece of stuff if its true and taken from Towers street forum... this in realtion to the staggered ride opening times at Alton Towers and how they apparntley do this to stop electric blackouts....lol....

They clearly either haven't heard of anti surge protectors, or Merlin are so tight fist'd, that they won't spend a single penny on one.

Forget about the BS, I know someone that used to work at Pleasure Woods Hills, the area that contained the rattle snake roller coaster (when it was there) and the bumper cars, never used to open until lunch time, this would save Pleasure Wood Hills themepark around £4,000 in staff cost per season. Bear in mind that pleasure wood hills don't have as many ride host per rides as Alton dose, they are open less days through out the season than Alton dose, and we are only talking about a couple of rides here, so I let you do the sums, think how much Alton are saving per season with their staggered opening times?

Nice to see some merch available in the park (hats, shirts and hoodies). Fairly basic stuff but a good start.

Hoodies are a bit pricey at £30 but £12 for a t-shirt is good.

All of these minor improvements seem good, if they can cheaply get the place tidy and looking proffesional this season, as seems to be their intention, then have rattle snake ripped down, ttt fully out, static train out and all scrapped over the winter, thats a few £ and sort of the remaining unsightly stuff gone (other than hyperdrive but doubt that will go)

They then just need a new flat to go on TTT's base, (mega bowl or something rarer than the norm these days) and a mini coaster on rattle snake like the whirlwind at gypb, just with non generic themeing, i dont know if a slightly larger layout is available, its a nice quiet ride, try to maintain the trees, then put the clown slide back down there if its not scrapped or get another, finish the second mini railway station and thats probably enough to get them another season with a good spread of stuff accross the park. Imo anyway.

Where is that?

It's a shame to hear so many comments about the gardening side of the park, they've always been on top of that so its sad to hear that it's become overgrown!

Overgrown is good, it benefits wildlife.

Yes but PWH isn't a wildlife reserve, nor will it actually have much wildlife in the park given that there are people there most days, making a lot of noise on the rides etc.

The woodlands may have wildlife, but I don't think that's what people are talking about when they're saying everywhere is over grown.

You don't need to be a wildlife reserve for birds, bees, butterflys, Dragon flies. That's why we shouldn't cut our grass/lawns Overgrown is very healthy for those forms of wildlife. we all need to do are bit. A mowed lawn is a bee crematory.

Went to pwh for my 3rd visit this season it was a good day out. Park was clean and tidy so why people are complaining for I don’t know. High Dive show was fantastic also on another note the carts on the rattle Snake appear to have covers on them which I don’t remember them having them on there before rather strange for a coaster that’s supposed to be removed

Interesting.... Im sure having sections of track fabricated where required must be more cost effective than buying a new ride

It's 8.48pm and with loud music coming out of the park and cars still parked inside there, there is clearly a event on it could be staff, car park gates still open

Whilst it would be amazing to hear that they're going to invest in reopening the Snake, I would imagine that the train has been covered because the train could still be sold on to another park, as there's nothing wrong with it.

How much of it has been removed now?

There is a small part of me thats thinking "hmmmm"....

It's been two years since it closed, and most of the ride is still there (Last time I had an update anyway)....

So they haven't dismantled it then? just removed some track? could it mean they've removed the rotten parts of the track and plan on replacing them?

yeah
basically all they have done has removed some of the track which like you say is most likely the rotten ones.

Fantatsic arieal shot of the park from August 1998. Shows a full car park almost, the voyager ride, sky screamer in its last location before removal, the diesel ran caterpillar ride is shown opposite the sky screamer. Also note the death slide still there .Sorry it's just a screen shot no idea how to get the proper pic on Here As it's on a Facebook page . Also shows super trooper and cine 180, the waltzers are still in fort fun as shown so cant remember what the ride is by the cannonball entrance is ?

The track hasn't actually rotten, it's just worn thin.

The Zierer Tivoli coasters have metal wheels on metal track, so both the wheels and track will wear down.

Unlike most coasters that have metal track and polyurethane wheels, with them the wheels take all the wear and tear so the track doesn't ever really need replacing.

So with that in mind, I can't imagine it's just a small section of track that needs replacing (if was then the cost really wouldnt have been an issue). Obviously certain section of track will have more wear than others, but in general once it's worn through in one place, it's likely to be all over as well.

Where's that image from Coolskin? You should have downloaded it from facebook then uploaded the actual image rather than the screen shot as it's so small lol

Coolskin, I remember there being a cheap and nasty go kart track on there for part of one season, but it was quite short lived.

Good point Martyn, the track would wear fairly evenly across the whole ride, but would it be how the weight is distributed across the track? Also i don't mean 'rotten' in the literal scene it just the word i use to describe things that aren't any good anymore. I guess the ride still on site we're kinda wishful thinking it'll be giving a new life, i suspect it wont.

Cool photo it's amazing how much has changed.. and how little things have changed.
