Someone i spoke to today described it as " western themed ghost train with lasers " which sounds sort of great but they were very disappointed with it overall. But that's just one person. Although they said the rest of the park was great.

It's pretty impressive looking considering how quickly they did the retheme. Love the way the UV paint has been used - it's definitely going to be a solid dark ride for years to come and suits the parks current direction.
I'm not going to watch the video, I don't want to spoilt it as I hope to visit this summer.
I just hope they remember that to cater for all the family you need rides for adults too ;)
This does look really good, but I think I would have waited to do this change this winter, getting a replacement for TTT and the Rattlesnake would have been a higher priority for this summer. Even if it was to be just a travelling flat ride.
Still, this looks to have been the best investment since... Marble Madness...?
It looks very good, well themed and very colourful.. it's a nice refurb.. that's about it (going by the video) it seems shooting targets don't trigger anything. but there doesn't seem to much in there so i guess shooting nothing gives riders something to do.. than look at blank walls. Hardly any moving parts either do there's nothing to really break down.. lol even the the park realise they can't keep things in good shape so eliminate the problems before they happen.
So sad this investment wasn't put into Hob's Pit, than turn a tent pole attraction into a generic ride that most parks already have.
but positively it looks nice, little kids will love it, but probs get board after a ride or two.

Do you ever stop moaning Bubbles! There's moving figures and other moving parts in the ride. Maybe you should actually visit the park soon and see for yourself instead of judging it from a badly filmed POV!

I must say that it looks good. I like what they've done with the theming. Also of note is the nice looking leather added to the carts. It looks as though the theming was produced by local company called Studios East Ltd Who do a lot of theming work for various attractions.
I've noticed a sort of score board outside the attraction, does anyone know if there is a score on the cars themselves?
Edit: just noticed that you view your score after you'be been on the ride.

oooh i wonder if they'll do anything with that part.. maybe a stand alone walk round bit like they had with the mini fairground but Target trail/mine themed.

I wouldn't have thought so, purely because of how short it would be on its own. My money would be on Hobs stuff being used in the train or under the Castle.
Bring back the scaremaze under the castle! That thing was awesome!
Shame about the Hobs walkthrough not being utilised for the queue in some way though. One other thing about this that concerns me is throughput. Hobs' was awful so I can't imagine this is much better.
The comparison photos on Facebook are incredible. The guys who done that paint work need a massive pat on their back. It's crazy how much of that I thought was real, but it's just painted on a flat surface!
And yes I caved and watched the video... I love the bit where the bats come out of the wall (keeping the old scene from Hobs ;) ), it's just a shame that there's not more scenes like that with moving objects etc.
Well they can't really turn it back into Hobs for Halloween so under the castle would make sense.
Throughput is probably the same as it was the the Faiytale ride now there's no walkie bit. I'm not sure how they can increase it, it's got enough cars.. anymore and it'll be a bit cramped. (walk bit might have made a good queue line?)
Yeah a couple of bats and a a hand full of moving miners/dwarfs and that's it.. id thought there'd be a bit more, and at least kept a peppers ghost. but it's too much to maintain.
It's looks much better than the one at Drayton Manor, but that had more 'stuff' going on.. but i certainly prefer the look and design of this one.. maybe improvements is something they'll do over time.

Thanks for the compliment Martyn, it was our intention/aim to transform the existing theming so it was almost unrecognisable from Hobs (in the time scale). We also wanted to produce scenery that created depth but also to add interest for guests that don't want to 'play the game' and simply enjoy it as a ride in it's own right. There are lots of little things we added that most people won't necessarily see but if ridden time and again guests will pick up on.
They are using five cars at the moment to see how it goes so throughput should in theory be better than Hobs.
We had originally wanted to keep the Peppers Ghost effects but change the content but unfortunately the cost was too much and we had to look at an alternative.
I think that given the time and budget, PWH have a ride that will be very popular and could soon become a favourite for many guests. The good thing with this ride is there is still scope for future improvements/additions such as more targets and animatronics but as I'm sure most people are aware, animatronics (especially quality ones) are not cheap.
Thanks for the insight. I think 99% of people agree that the transformation in just 3 weeks is incredible, and it surpasses everyone's expectations.
Interesting that there's now 5 cars, Hobs only had 3. I wonder where the extra two have come from? And why didn't they appear earlier on in life when Hobs Pit had 2 hour queues....lol
Also worth mentioning is that UV scenery is difficult to photograph and even harder to video with any quality. The reason I mention this is that the POV video that has been uploaded doesn't give a realistic representation of the UV environment, to appreciate it properly the only way is to 'see it with your own eyes'. ;-)
