I have to say I'm disappointed, I would have rather seen them refurbish the boat ride and give it a new theme - don't they already have a Wave Swinger anyway?
The park used to have a Waveswinger many years ago (going back to '88) - not sure when it was taken away though. PWH then invested in a smaller version called Sky Hooks which has now been removed this season.
If the castle is considered for a dark ride, the park then loses a good space for entertainment shows etc. It would be silly to knock it down completely however that depends on what it is replaced with. Would be interesting to know opinions on whether the castle should be removed for a New coaster, converted into a dark ride or refurbished for entertainment shows as it currently is.

Ah thanks for the info, I still think that a Wave Swinger will be too similar to what Sky Hooks was, and it just seems strange to remove a ride to install a similar one but on a slightly bigger scale.
That is a good point about losing space for shows, but do they ever actually use the building for shows these days? When I visited last year it was advertised as "Laser Labyrinth" but was closed, which was a shame. The building itself could, with a new colour scheme, look quite impressive and form a decent facade to a dark ride with minimal expense (as the park already has it).
thanks Clarence & Matt, I had not noticed that part of the site before. In the case of the Pirate ship that was rented from the Bemboms, I guess they eventually purchased it fully?
Labyrinth doesn't seem to be on the website anymore bubbles. I'm sure in another thread someone said it wasn't too popular even when it was free.
With the Waveswinger, is it possible that it is exactly the same one the park previously owned?

I never knew LL was gone, probably the biggest waste of money the park has had for a while, i know it cost a fortune and was never popular for some reason. Maybe gusts didn't know what it was or where it was., or the cost to enter.

I think a lot of people had trouble finding it. I've lost count how many times I've heared people asking about it. We went on it once in 2014 and we where the only people on it (4 of us). Again, I might be wrong here but I didn't see it open at all in 2015.
See, now I don't think Topscan's make good theme park rides. Fair grounds and amusement parks yeah, but not actual theme parks. They're far too intense and all they really do is throw you around to make you as ill as possible XD
A Star Flyer is much better suited for a park like Lightwater IMO.
I really enjoyed the original Waveswinger and was sad to see it go. Especially when it was replaced by an inferior chair ride. So I am glad to see it back, but as an ageing flat ride it would've been nice to see it come back as an 'also for this year...' not a star attraction.
I've been reading a lot of Towers Times since the incident with Smiler, and it would seem that Alton Towers has even tighter planning constraints than PWH. They have 8 coasters (I think), and some of the best attractions in the UK. I understand that they are very different parks, but they also have some important similarities.
It's such a shame to see the park stepping backwards compared to the previous few years.

I don't see the Waveswinger as backward step, they fun, fit the part nicely, and age doesn't matter providing they can still get parts for it.. what was a backwards step is digging up the boat ride.

I see the new Waveswinger as a replacement for the mini one that had, so i consider that an upgrade.
The fact we've also lost the boat ride and TTT still isn't fixed are the biggest set backs with nothing to replace them with.

It looks quite good with the surrounding trees actually, would be great if it had water fountains similar to Monkey Swinger at Chessington but can't see that happening.
