So, as we all know, this years new addition to the ride line up was the controversial Hyper Drive Dodgems.
Now to cut it short, I'm just going to say it - in my opinion, Hyper Drive is/was the single worst investment the park has ever made.
And it's a massive shame really, given that the investments made in the 3 years prior were pretty much spot on. New kids rides, a new coaster, drop tower, a new dark ride, plus ride refurbishments.
I know that with a park of PWHs' size, we shouldn't expect new stuff every year, so why didn't they just give it a rest this year? They still have plenty of new stuff they could of milked for another year (Marble Madness etc). That £80,000 would have been MUCH better spent as an addition to the retheme of the Vintage cars, OR, as many of us have already said, have the new Dodgems as a replacement for the older Dodgy Dodgems.
But in saying all that, I was still willing to cut them some slack, "lets see how it turns out" etc. Hmmm. So there's the random decals on the static train (which are of a poor quality and are peeling), the poor capacity as most of the cars sit unused in the middle, and to top it off, HYPER was clearly the wrong word to use, as the cars are as slow as.
So instead of solving the issues the park has, they've just added to it that list by installing a duplicate attraction which is almost as poor as the other.
So what do the rest of you UPers think with regards to Hyper Drive? Am I being a bit OTT, or is the criticism justified?
Well a good quality dodgem ride would be welcomed and be a nice investment, but it doesn't sound as if that's what they've installed. Sounds like just a bigger tacky version of what they had. They could have spent some of that money renovating the old ones instead.
yes it's a step back, yet people will visit the park expecting some new 'hyper drive' ride and leave very mislead and disappointed which may have a knock on effect next year.
The cost of the ride seems huge for what it is.
I wonder of anyone on park would admit that made a mistake with this?

it would be good to get a word from the park on this to be honest because its a joke, its just a big pile of junk!. dated, nackard, poor condition. just WWHYYYYY!!!
If Hyper Drive ran with a good capacity (all the cars) and didn't have the section in the middle which defeats the point of a Dodgems track then I would say it was a good investment for the park. As it is at the moment, it's a bit odd.
Perhaps some form of organised race might work, since the layout is more like a "track" than a square.
Guests could sign up in advance and then a couple of times a day the ride becomes a bit of a spectator show. Put someone on a microphone introducing the competitors, commentating etc.
They have to have the bit in the middle to make sure everyone goes round the track on the correct direction, you can't bump in bumper cars, you're meant to drive around slowly and pointlessly trying to doge everyone ;)

Look at GYPB, the new spinning coaster they got may be a bit naff, but its new, crisp, clean and different. Lets call it a fiat 500.
PWH have bought a rusty Austin Maestro.
Nuff said
I wish they'd have spent the money doing up the outside of Tales of the Coast. I don't understand why they've just plonked a random plastic fish and a seal with a ball on its nose out there? It has the potential to be a really good dark ride!
Tales of the Coast has been a mess since forever but word on the street is it's getting re-themed, there was a topic on here a few weeks ago as the park was asking for suggestions.
