RE: Hyper Drive Dodgems - New for 2015

ugh, why would they spoil the park like that?
Next they'll pull down Woody's cabin and shove something on that.
It makes it worse when there is already plenty of undeveloped parts of the ground and empty bits that could use something.

It was bad enough when Moby got dumped along there but being a small kids ride it didn't look too bad.

Yeah Moby isn't too bad, I guess it could have gone opposite Jolly but it might have looked a bit lost with the metal fence and driveway behind it. But then I guess it wouldn't take much to stick a bush along there with some nice landscaping.

I can't see anything on facebook with regards to the positioning of it?

Woodys cabin isn't really that anymore, infact at Halloween 2014 it was pumpkin carving. I dont think it will look too bad along the main walkway, when you consider the train was/is SBNO at least it will fill that area up and give a better atmosphere.

Confirmed that it is going on the old train station site, so assuming the train has been removed too or will be as we know the canopy went a few weeks back when I first noticed it had

It's going to look even worse than it already is, if they leave the train there.... oh PWH what are you doing?!

What this area will become is the central hive of activity in the park. I'm not over the moon about the old station area going but in fairness what was it used for - not a lot. It was amazing when it was a restaurant though but those good ol' days are gone.

I just hope it's made to look good but I fear we have just gained a fairground ride and it will be plonked on the site - are we returning back to the tacky says with this. Prove me wrong please PWH.

Yeah I feel the same Josh. Ideally this would go somewhere like opposite Wipeout, but it's like they thought "where's some concrete?" and went with that.

No matter how good it looks, it will look out of place there. There is already enough rides in that area, it's nice to have some open areas in between to break it up a bit. They need to start livening up other areas.

I think this will be bigger than some of you think - not long to go !

Well the bigger they are, the more stupid they could look.

I just want to know what's going to make these different to other Dodgems to warrant having both.

The difference is these are bigger ones and the others are mini/kiddie ones.

I don't believe it will be 'plonked' I reckon it will be well themed and made to look permanent and fit in nicely. they're not stupid to fall back into bad habits, I also think being close to the maintenance yard will prevent it from being neglected unlike the other one. The only new rides they haven't themed has been Jolly and Pony trail which look very undeveloped for some reason.

But they'll have to move the train other wise it would look worse, be nice to know if that will remain somewhere on park (I hope so) or if it'll be removed completely.

I agree there is already a hive of activity around this aria and there are plenty of places need attention, I also like it when there's some space, landscaping to break it all up, hopefully there's enough gap between this and Moby for it not feel all squashed up. But as someone said it was all going to waste anyway, and the train was never used.

I don't know what they use Woody's Cabin for theses days bit at least it looks cool and does get use on occasions, I really wouldn't want to see that removed, maybe they could turn it into one of the glass mazes or something, I can't remember how big it is.

Things will change, in fact so much has changed over the years you can't keep the park exactly the same as it was when we were kids, in fact I think overall it's better than it was then, in 20 years time these kids will be saying the same lol Problem I really have is how some parts of the park are giving so much attention while others are treated like they don't matter. Now they need to pull up the mini dodgems and really develop they end of the park.

But the other dodgems aren't 'mini', they're normal size.

The park called them 'mini' maybe they're mini in comparison to the new hyper drive?

Can Dodgems really be that different to the 'normal' ones? I assume they may be slightly faster, but not too much of s difference as speed and crashing don't really go well together. Maybe they are slightly bigger with a bigger arena and more cars?

The best experience of dodgems was the buffalo ones at PA in the Wild West area; had some good rides on that and it was a well themed one; I must say I'm not a massive fan of the colourful lights and flirts cent colours that go with the fairground experience - if it's unchanged (I assume it's s fairground buy) then it'll look shoddy in my opinion.

So going by the picture clues, these are old. Which to me would sort of confirm that there's nothing special about them.

Everything about this addition worries me. From the look, the location and 'what's the 'point'.

It's a shame because all of them concerns could have been eradicated if they were simply replacing the old ones.

The train is still in place and unless I was colour blind yesterday it's been painted and it may well form part of the new attraction which is taking shape - just a hunch

It would be interesting if they used it as a queue lane....

Where is this confirmation that it's going on the station site?

It was confirmed on facebook.

Now, the idea of the train being a queue line is intriguing.. I kinda like that concept, at least it sounds alright.

One more thing I'm potentially concerned about, is that this is the only improvement this year, and the likes of Enimga, Rattlesnake, TotC and the old Dodgems are left in their current state.

It was confirmed on Facebook and I also saw it on the site myself yesterday yet closer to the path if that makes senseĀ

Well to be fair we don't know if they've be working on anything else.

Makes me laugh when they open 1st April and they've only just started installing the new ride.
What the hell have they been doing since November?

That's why I said 'potentially' Bubbles.

And how can it be more towards the path coolskin? There must have only been about 20ft of platform in between the train and the path!lol

the ride looks like its over by the main path rather than squashed against the train, know that may sound double dutch

Yeah it's not exactly the biggest area.

They've said on FB that there going to show us the artists impression soon. Which makes me think they could be doing this properly. We'll see.

One would hope the ride would be similar to this at Disney's Magic Kingdom

Had such a weird dream about these dodgems last night, the part by the palladium was turned into like a walk through horror maze with water and air above your head before you got near the ride...was so eery

Yeah it looks like it's going to be transformed into a subway train. It's a neat idea, I like it.
