I doubt there is anything wrong with the structure, it's been up so long. It just gets flooded under entrance tunnel. Eveything else is fine, although it doesn't always run in wet weather (I think the wheels struggle to get a grip and it can't pull the train up that first bit)
I remember when it had lights flashing in the tunnel, always missed them.
Also I know it was a ladybird before but didn't it take a Racing car theme before being a snake? I also remember the old que line with the clear plastic panels between the public and train, so everyone qued up in front of each 'car' prior to it's arrival than the one made dash for seats.
Anyway, id be sad to see it go, it's always been popular for some reason, I guess it's because anyone can ride it and it's good fun.
(that end of the park really needs a re-vamp. Other than the Snake coaster there's not much there)
I have a really clear memory of those plastic panels, maybe they were short lived as not many people seem to remember them. I cant say that I recall a racing theme though personally. All the info I have gathered in the past suggests the timeline went from Ladybird to Rattlesnake to Snake in the grass. The earlier Snake colours were orange and green. I remember the tunnel having things in it too... werent there also glow in the park snake drawings in there too? I think the ride lost a big part of its appeal when the middle tunnel that you used to whizz through was removed
That must have been within the last 4 years, wasn't there last time I was around.
It really is a sorry sight, I really hope they refurbish this after they've done the cannonball express. Not much point in adding more and more rides or another coaster if you can't or wont look after the one you've got. Wouldn't suprise me if they pull the blasted thing down eventually.

For some reason I thought the plastic panels were part of the race car theme.. but I might have imagined such a theme. lol. I don't recall ever riding the ladybird version but I do remember seeing it.
Don't they have the glow in the dark snakes at the top of the tunnel now??
I was reading the good news about the cannonball express (whatever it's called theses days) getting a lump sum of money for a sort out, I hope the snake gets on too in the near future.

I wonder if painting the tunnel is part of this years jobs. I guess its quite and expense but if you are spending money on making the park more attractive which they are. I would have thought this eyesore would be high on the list of priorities.
If it was to be painted it should have started prior to being built. especially the inside, have you ever used an etching primer before? It's stinks, it's really strong and just makes you sick. Bad enough in a ventilated area let alone inside that tunnel, a mask just wouldn't cut it in there.. Things like that would have or should have been done first, with maybe finial coatings after it's been fixed into place, at least the inside anyway.

I dont think there ever was plans to just paint it, they we're going to be rebuilding the original tunnel, but for whatever reason, they never got round to finishing it - just like the second station for the miniature railway, and the Nature Trail.
