Seems a little pointless considering the effort needed to pull track up etc. And it's not like it can be replaced with anything else. Come to think of it, imagine a monorail!?
IS? I mentioned it was being looked at. Renovation or removal and development of that area? That's a conversation for this forum I guess. Forget passion. Forget History. For new people, new visitors...is that area a white elephant? Oooooo! I love stirring it up ;)
What's impressive is the amount that has happened in and around the park in the last 2 years. There was a couple of closed seasons in the early days of this forum where there was literally no activity, nothing new at all. I am so excited that in the last 2 years there has been 9 new attractions as well as some vast improvements around the park. This news that they are looking at the possibility of removing or redeveloping the area with the big train is again really good news. That with the Enigma revamp and the relocation of Fireball means we will still have loads to look forward to in the coming seasons.
Obviously any new developement is a good thing, but I really love that big train. I'm sure most peopel see that and think back to their childhood. Plus, it is a very unique feature for a theme park.
I'd consider closing the Flying Fish restaurant and using the train instead.

yep, the train is a nice setting to have as a restaurant - sitting inside and out. It could be really inviting if renovated to a good standard + maybe a sign showing the history of that particular train
I appear to have been mistaken! I thought people were talking about the RAILWAY not the old train by the log flume. Didn't it used to be sponsored by Coca-cola or Pepsi back in the day?

I hate to admit it but until relatively recent years, I didn't even realise there was a restaurant inside that train! I must have walked past it year after year as a youngster without realising! Poor sign posting on the part of the park or ignorance by me? You decide!
^ Ignorance by you, for sure! There were a couple of posts with the menus attached by the front of the platform. It was only made into a restaurant when CdA first took over, in 2005.
^^ We were talking about the other train, but I got confused....it doesn't matter.

Martyn we were cooking and serving food both in the full scale carriages for sit down guests and the takeaway bit ..and this was way back in 1999

They were a great fit for the horror maze at Halloween also. Would be a shame if they went as they are a great unique feature. I would like to see it become a restaurant again, I have some fond memories of that place selling some great looking burgers!
