Ghostbusters Tower - Great Yarmouth

Martyn mentioned about what he would do with The castle at PWH. He said

"But this would be "Ghostbusters", and the exterior of the castle would look exactly like the old Ghostbusters tower on Great Yarmouths sea front, any one remember that? I always thought that looked so cool when it was there, and even though I never actually went in there, I was gutted when I saw it being destroyed!"

Well i went to the one at Yarmouth and it was brilliantly themed. The 1st part was a walkthrough, you were given a token at the beginning and once you had completed the walkthrough -you had the shoot out which was basically a glorified arcade laser shooter.

I believe there was a simulator in there aswell because there was 2 options of what to do. I remember thinking it was a bit of a swindle but the theming was awesome.

Does anyone remember how in the early 80s it was a walkthrough horror house. It was themed as a dungeon and in the centre of the arch was a massive wooden dungeon door - studded with bars - behind the door was a puppet who shook the door and screamed and shouted as you went past. Brilliant but i was too young to go in. The door gave me nightmares on its own!

Yeah I remember that. Was quite weird reading what you put as it was all coming back to me word by word. I was only born in 1984, so it must have been like it well into the 90's for me to remember it.

And yes there was a similutor when it was Ghost Buster themed. It was actually a coaster simulator (Nemesis, Shockwave, Big One and that mental Caynon Blaster coaster)

Ahh Ghost Blasters, I remember that place! I went on the simulator but never made it into the other attraction!

Do any of you remember the spaceship at Joyland?

That was absolutely magical as a kid.

The ghost buster tower was always a treat, didn't have a bloke hanging out of the window on the exterior?

Also, I do remember the man in the cage... .terrified me as a kid he was randomly rattle the cage.
I have no idea what it was all about it's puzzled me for years , it was a dungeon ?? Did anyone here ever go round it?

And now its gone ....what a shame!

Last time i went to Yarmouth i was really quite disapointed. Its shabby - especially the pleasure beach - they need to inject some cash into it!
