The origins of the name?

So... we chat about the park regularly but does anyone actually know where the name "Pleasurewood Hills" originally came from? Who came up with it and why the "Hills" bit?

My suspicions are that it may have something to do with an old, large, detached house close to the park on Yarmouth Road in Lowestoft. In the late 1970's, the land next to this property was developed into a road called "Pleasurewood Close". I may be way off, but could this be an explanation?

What do you think?

There is another part near Tesco "pleasurewood farm" I think... will bike down and get some pics of it if it is still there and pleasurewood close too.

Have taken some pics, will mail them to Matt and ask for them to appear in here and I will add info.

These photo's show Pleasurewood close, the big house set back on the a12 yarmouth road which is in front of pleasurewood close if your following.

The sign covered in leaves does actually say pleasurewood farm and you get to this up a track it is a private lane. The final picture is Pleasurewood Farm taken from the newer housing estate. Pleasure wood farm is set back of the a12 opp tesco as if you are heading towards Gunton hall turning
