Yeah, thats going to be quite interesting to follow. I've been saying for years that X-Sector needs sprucing up, and since then they've done everything BUT that. Got rid of Crappy England and Shug Land, so its time for X to be sorted!
If I'm right in thinking, its going to stretch along that forest area through to Spinball?
Just watched that video myself...I wasn't sure if that was new or not as I haven't looked at the 2012 site before. I love the name too...Nemesis: Sub-Terra. Opens 24 March 2012! Loving it!
I think this will be a Eurofighter as there is a quote in the planning app which proves this. I too am slightly disappointed but only because of how quick they become rougher than a one night stand the morning after! I loves Saw in its first season but in the second season it had changed too much for the worse. I can't wait to see what Alton have planned theming wise as I'm sure it will be top drawer.

I think Alton have waited a good length of time since SAW and the Eurofighter has come a long way since then - take a look at Takabisha in Japan to see what I mean. Everything about this screams Eurofighter, but a new class of Eurofighter - and one without it's trademark 'beyond vertical' drop. I think this ride is going to be great, and Alton have clearly seen something in Gerstlauer they like. This is a huge project for them, and a smaller manufacturer like Gerst will be eager to please. Plus, the budget is £20m - which indicates some serious theme!
Merlin's first foray into BIG coaster projects was Th13teen, and since then they have clearly stepped up the mark with rides such as Raptor and Swarm. Now this looks like it will be the thrill machine Alton needed.
I think its going to be an X-car. There's no MCBR, so Eurofighter must be out of the question due to the poor capacity.
And I say Eurofighters are poor, I dont mean layout wise, I mean pain-wise. I imagine that Takibakiwaki or whatever it is, is incredibly painfull. I dont know if Josh is on about the same thing as me, Saw hurts, a lot. And I mean a LOT. I'ver never experienced pain like it on a coaster (and I love the Grand National and Odyssey!). They are poorely designed and made on the cheap, the track has kinks in it, and when going 50mph, that kink causes a major jolt, which then cause extreme levels of pain on anyone tall...
I only rode Saw when it was a month old so I can't comment on Eurofighter pain.
The plans categorically state that the ride is of the SAME manufacturer AND type as Saw. However, it has been said that the track looks like X-Car. It is possible that this is a heavily modified Eurofighter, or a brand new model of coaster by Gerstlauer.
Thing is, the support structure for the vertical lift is indenticle to that on Hollywood: Rip, Ride, Rockit, an X-Car coaster.... I guess time will tell...
Yeah Martyn I was talking about the pain. I rode Saw when it was a few weeks old and it was as smooth as butter but the very next season it was so painful! Unless, Gerstauler have sorted this problem then I will ride it as much as possible in the first season. :)
Gerstlauer are just odd really. Saw and Speed are painful, yet Rage and Anubis are fine. Infact, Anubis is bloody amazing!
Anyway, as someone pointed out on CF, it doesn't have a vertical lift/beyond vertical drop, so it technically ISN'T a Eurofighter (if it is a Gerst at all).
ANd as much as I love a new thrilling coaster, I think this is in the wrong park. Should be in Thorpe, or Drayton, not Alton.
I think it's about time AT played with an existing ride type and made it immense, rather than go for the world's first like with Air and Thirteen. So I look forward to this coaster and you are right, not vertical drop ala Eurofighter = no whip lash inducing head jolt...hopefully!
They were fake plans though, never actually submitted for consideration. These are real plans - on a real planning website. I doubt they'd spend all the money on drawing up real plans and paying for an expensive application process just to throw off some enthusiasts...
The park was lovely and quiet yesterday and we had our early ride time from 9am..... Did rita, oblivion, nemesis and air all front row. Did the new nemesis sub terra and well that was not worth the wait ! I wont say too much here incase it spoils it for anyone yet the attraction is not what it seems....
Did both water rides and mine train, they sent us round 3times! , hex, still love that, sonic was 3per car due to the weather yet it was good, man the track wobbles as you head up the first twisty brake bit !
It was my first time in the park for about 5-6 years, no more mcd's or kfc or pizza hut, mostly there own stuff now and a bk. The park was as always very clean and looked lovely. Could see all the original black hole tent colour as it was being ripped down etc etc and SW7 plastered all around it....
EVERY single attraction was operating in the rain.........
Over at the waterpark we had great fun too.
Oh you can choose to pay £16 to park near the entrance or the £6. We didnt have to pay as its on our passes yet it is bad. The monorails look mank even with their revamps with all the windowfilm vinyl on the windows you can no longer see out much and it use to be so good travelling through by nemesis etc. I also loved the corkscrew loops at the entrance.
Next stop Thorpe on Monday for Swarm ! So hope all is working there
