The ride time is 165 seconds - so it's two and a half minutes long...
Take it with a pinch of salt if you will but Wardley himself has apparently said it's smoother than he hoped for - so there's some serious possibility that this could be a stunning Gerst.
Well it's a longer train that usual that may make a difference. But in my experience they have a tendency to roughen up over time. This coaster truly is a beast though - I cannot wait to ride and I like how they are interlinking the theme with the rest of X-Sector, nice idea.
So The Smiler is delayed due to teething problems. Hasn't the ride been testing for well over a week? I suppose the problems may have arisen due to multiple train operation.

It's moved since press night - though that was a spectacular fail.
Announcing that opening day isn't happening with 20 hours notice is bloody appalling though. Hob's Pit has the biggest ride opening in the UK this week now though ;)
It's the fact that it's the second delay. Don't forget this ride was scheduled to open on March 16th. They delayed it until May. It got to May and there was no sign of a date. Then they said the 23rd and started a big marketing push (including TV adverts) with the date on. Now, just 20 hours beforehand and after people have taken time off work, bought train tickets and booked hotels, they say it's not opening.
Yeah it's crazy that they have had to renege on their opening date - but these things happen. Th13teen had a great first day but was down very shortly afterwards so it's not unheard of.
Of course I know it's not unheard of, but they've had two extra months to get it sorted. I don't think anyone would have issue if it broke down after opening - but for it to have now been delayed twice is pretty mad.
Yeah, I agree that it's a crazy thing for the park to do. To have to be in this position where they can't open the ride is mental especially after all the hype - the massive hype. Is the reason for the delay known?
