It's individual and adds another indoor attraction which the park is lacking in. Plus it's a family thrill which is ideal.

I'm a celeb is hugely popular so its probably a good choice

The advert has been filmed and a new competition is being done soon for so many tickets in to be the first to ride etc

I'm not a fan of ride tie ins with popular tv shows or films (The Hills having Marble Madness is borderline for me)
The reason is they just go out of fashion and become really dated very quickly, and not in a positive way.

Minions from Despicable Me coolskin.

They look similar, but I honestly don't think that was their intention. They had to make the most of them hideous mouse ears!

Yeah, that's absolutely absurd.

Just to compare, last year it was €84 for a '2 park' ticket at Disneyland Paris.

Which are a very small percentage of people. Most use BOGOFs

Thorpe suffers from overcrowding. I'm not condoning such ridiculous pricing but they have heavily discounted online tickets. Maybe this is the start of a shift away from the Merlin BOGOFs. If they can convince enough people to book in advance it could work wonders for the park's visitor levels and help them to manage the park better.

There is not a single time I have paid full price for a Merlin attraction - they employ this pricing structure as the BOGOF and half price vouchers provide a lot of marketing opportunities and partnerships with brands. It's a clever way of marketing and if this didn't happen then the price would be lower.

That is why you rarely find offers for smaller parks. Paulton's Park is approx £25 entry but vouchers are almost unheard of. But the sheer abundance of Merlin vouchers is crazy - they are everywhere - washing powder, crisps, cereal, drinks, newspapers. I have a cup of about 30 of them I just keep for if I need them.

We all know their pricing structure is done with the vouchers in mind, but there are dates when the vouchers aren't valid.

The restrictions are only for a couple of days a year at the Theme Park attractions, mainly end of season and Halloween nights which is fair enough. Otherwise they are on 99% of the year. Anyhow the whole argument about the price hike is irrelavent due to the pricing model they employ - they are still more than every other park even with the offers but why shouldn't they be? They invest the highest amount into new attractions.

But seriously would you pay £60 to enter ? I know I wouldnt

Tourists who aren't aware of the discounts will pay, I've never come across a discount voucher I guess it's something you have to go looking for. Also, I would pay £60 because I wouldn't know any better.

People expect to pay high prices for theses types of parks and in return they get some of the best rides on the market, and the discounts I'm sure are taking into account, so they're deliberately higher.

If £60 is too much what would you prefer to pay? If it's any less it makes parks like PWH look overpriced.

You've never seen a Merlin voucher ever? You don't have to come across them, you literally fall over them everywhere.

Washing powder, crisps, cereal, chocolate, pizza, fizzy drinkand cake to name just a handful of everyday products they were featured on all last season.

Then there's other supermarket promotions, deals at other shops, vouchers online etc etc etc

They are more common in supermarkets now than the papers yet you still can get newspaper ones yet long gone our the 241 newspaper ones that were anytime - last time I saw one it was timed so you only had certain times to use it

It's nice to see that they might FINALLY be repainting Colossus!

Possibly.

I haven't heard anything along those lines, where have you heard this?

It is long overdue and would be very welcome, however I can't see them having it as a priority sadly.

Photos from the annual pass day show some parts of the track with fresh paint on them.

A few tiny joins in the track have been painted over, presumably to hide welds or other work that has taken place on them.

But why would they do that? The track is covered in faded paint, dirt and rust.

It was to hide welds/repairs in the track, presumably they looked worse than the rest of the track (I know that's difficult!)

Had a good two days, was nice and quiet so no wait for anything. Did not do im a celeb, the dark secret area ( 2016 ) is all sealed off and lots of work being done inside, you can see all the work being done from most of the rides.

Slammer testing yet not open as normal.

Good to see the rides being tested in the evening when closed and how they run different to when the public are on them !! Enterprise actually stayed upright unlike its up and straight down and the flying carpet flew round in test mode !!!

Shark hotel ok, very small yet bitesized as expected. Good value. Breakfast not bad either we had an hour of fasttrack to use as part of the stay yet no need as quiet.

Saw was rough and my head still hurts today from it but then at 6ft 3 tall I guess the ride is not really easy for me at all....

Did all rides in front seats and back too
