Yeah the only ride at Thorpe with a single rider line is.... Flying Fish! It was added this year as well, for some crazy reason.

I remember going two years ago and flying fish had a single rider queue, I used it a couple of times.

Sorry got confused there. They've added a front seat queue line, which is even more bizarre to be honest!

Surely a back seat queue line would be better?

Did not fancy it, not sure why mate to be honest. The collosus team had to clear up two loads of sick ! People were getting touchy in the line

Needed a day away so went to Thorpe on Saturday...

Pre-booked my mates ticket at £24 via a very long winded Thorpe phone line - just to make money - thing is you ring the friends and family hotline and they just direct you to the relevant attraction - doh.

Left Lowie at 6.15am - hit the m25 in two hours yet we went of course by 20miles as we were gassing so got back on track and got to the park at 9.45am. Already very busy...

Out all day Stealth - gutting as mate wanted to ride..... Slammer just fenced off due to "the hollow" coming - which I assume is a Halloween thing, Samauri was under refurb and in bits and back in 2013 it said

Very long wait times for all rides and we only got on Swarm, Rush, Rapids, Log flume, Saw, Colossus oh and x no way out which is just filthy, old and awful....

My mate got some tack to take away as she loves all that junk and so she had my 20% off !!

Ok so I didn't have to pay to enter and it is great scanning as you go while others are paying for car park - yet the old debate of wait times versus ride times will always rumble on....

Thorpe is suffering from its popularity at the moment... Plus the fact that their flats are experiencing extended downtime.

Slammer has been down most of the season and as its a huge pain in the arse for Thorpe probably doesn't have too long left. Samurai however nobody really knows about.

The park is too small for the popularity it has right now! Victim of its own success? Possibly.

You just need to time your visits right. When we went everything apart from Colossus was walk on.

Went on the 3rd Oct and had a good time. I can't fall in love with Thorpe, despite the ride line up. It lacks any magic.

HOWEVER, Arise Sir Swarm, diving into my No.1 coaster spot. Love everything about it, the seats, the restraints, the whole friggin' ride. Super smooth.

Not bad operations either, two trains on Swarm, Nemises Inferno and Stealth (which opened a tad late). Was my first time on Saw, and didn't enjoy it. Seemed very rough, and a hour wait too. We got 3 Swarm rides in that time!

I actually like Saw, especially that first drop indoors! But I cant ride it often due to the immense pain I suffer whilst on it! I'm not alone, but then other people have said they haven't felt anything... for me, the train seems to 'jolt' at the bottom of each element, when its going quite fast, and it causes a very painful jolt/judder to my body and come the end of the ride, I'm ready to go to hospital! laughing

Yeah, we said the indoors drop is the only redeeming feature of the ride. Shame, cos I loved the Falcon at Dunirell. (My only other Eurofighter...)

Yeah I really like Rage, its little 'headbangy', but other than that, its enjoyable. Anubis is amazing, yet Saw and Speed are horrible to ride. Gerstlauer are so unpredictable!

Why would you ring Alton to ask about Thorpe park? And yes MAP holders get a cheaper rate.

They seem like a nice idea and it'll be cool to stay on park - especially as theme parks are bloody knackering affairs. The look clean and functional enough in the photos but I'd hate to think what they'd be like after a while considering the clientele...

Went to Thorpe Park today. Crash Pad looked a bit rubbish from the outside, just like a corigated iron shed sort of thing (maybe I was looking at the wrong building?).

Ride reviews:
Collossus - (walk-on at the start) haven't rode this in years, felt just as thrilling as it did the first time I rode it, best coaster in the park still.

Saw - (walk-on at the start and when I re-rode it at lunch) excellent! I've only rode one other Eurofighter before (Rage) but this felt much more thrilling and I was surprised at how smooth it was after seeing some dodgy ride reviews!

Nemesis Inferno - (walk-on to begin with, the re-rode with a 15 minute queue) always worth a short queue. Remains one of the best rides in the park!

The Swarm - (30 minute wait (forwards) followed later in the day by - what probably would have been almost walk-on (backwards) had they not had a problem unloading) once again, I was surprised at how thrilling this was. It was the second best coaster in the park (going forwards at the front) as the wind rushed in my face and I could see all the near misses! Backwards probably demotes it behind Nemesis Inferno, but nonetheless, still a thrilling experience!

Stealth - (15 minute wait after it broke down!) fab as I remembered it! Only disappointment is how short the ride is!

Detonater - (walk-on) First time riding this, Mega Drop seemed taller back in the day... This was brilliant!

X - (walk-on) I never rode this when I've been before (so haven't rode it backwards). It's awfully boring, isn't it. Made my other half feel sick. The millions of midway stops are a bit pointless. If only Snake In The Grass was enclosed, it'd kick the **** out of this!

Storm Surge - (10 minute wait) disappointed at the obvious non-attempt at theming this. Looks very much 'plonked' there when literally everything else is AT LEAST reasonably themed. Doesn't help that it was boring and ****.

Zodiac - (walk-on) I've never been on an Enterprise before. I felt like I was gonna fall out, but it was decent!

The other half was feeling ill so we didn't ride anything else, we considered Rush - but I remembered the awful experience of having limited restraints (and being alot skinnier) last time I rode it, so we decided against that! Samurai style rides don't agree with me, and I've ridden Fireball enough times in the past to let Vortex go for today (catering for the other half ovc). Slammer was closed (as always) and the other half didn't fancy getting very wet as it looked like would happen on the other 3 main water rides!

That corrugated metal building... Yeah, that's the crash pad. It's genuinely made from shipping containers. Really.

X's break runs are meant to be going I think, but they haven't yet been sorted - I've heard positive reviews of the new lights and sound though... Good to see you had a fun and quiet day though! :)

Essentially this will be what we will have this year in the form of satans maze in the/under castle....
