The Tide Traveller

nice bit of history, I had no idea it was so old! cant understand why nobody actually can say "this is whats wrong with it" its hardly state of the art technology! not looking so good at pwh right now though by the sounds of it, was going to bring my littleun but it sounds in a worse state than when I visited early last year! it needs a serious overhaul if there to take advantage of the summer holidays or next season will be dire!

Neither did I surprised it's so old! But the thing is, although simpler you look at say Joyland. Where the tubs and snails are 67 years old, and most of their rides are ancient. They keep them running all the time infact I don't really recall seeing any of them down for more than a few hours, though I did notice the big wheel was taken apart mid season. I can only assume it needed a new part, but it was back up and operating within the week!

Now a small family owned park can manage this, yet a big park with huge investors can't? And coupled with as big a company as HUSS. Something must be wrong.

Also forgot to mention it was the prototype, which may have added to its mechanical problems over the years! There's a reason HUSS only built 5 of these - they were pretty boring to begin with! Definitely time to look at a replacement.

Bit expensive for spares ;) saying that even that would be better than the £80k they WASTED on hyper drive!!!!!

How did it even get into it's current state? If i'm not mistaken it screwed up after it got moved and hasn't operated properly since. Maybe it got damaged during the location change?

And anyway, why should Huss not making them any more be such an issue? There are enterprises made by Huss and even schwarzkopf that are just as old as TTT and they must have similar mechanisms. If other parks can keep rides from a company that doesn't even exist anymore (that goes for coasters as well, look at CCI, arrow ect.) in good order, then why is TTT such a problem? Fix the thing or scrap it, it's bad for public perception to have a ride that's either down or failing to operate in the way it should.

Nothing official yet, but word has it that the Tide Traveller is currently being dismantled, parts of it can be seen out on the path near to Cannonball.

It's not surprising at all, but it is interesting that they've started this already before the park has even closed for the year. A sign that they could be having a busy winter? ;)

Something new might be on it's way.
Remove it before Christmas, install new ride after Christmas. I hope.

If it is going, which I think it is, then new rides will need to be on the way. Ideally a replacement for both TTT and the rattlesnake, plus an actual kids coaster elsewhere on the park.

I love that part of the park which has become a graveyard of stuff over the years and to think that once had thousands of cars a season on that old entrance route it's quite nostalgic. I expect it will now be sold as scrap as its in pieces? Can't imagine huss or Alton want it back 😂

I hope they keep some of the cars to use as themeing, they should do the same with bits of the rattlesnake.

Some of the boats from TotC have been piled up beside it so I imagine they're just awaiting the local scrap merchant to pick them up :(

I went today. The rides carts are in a hedge near the "Jolly Roger". Only a pillar left standing in its place. It has been going down for a while now. Am I right in thinking it used to lift?

Let's hope this gets replaced with a brand new ride! (and not a used one from the ends of the earth)

Well it's long overdue. sadly, it was a cool little ride.
I just hope they get something similar. They have the concrete floor and queue lines so just need to buy a ride.

Still wondering what the plans are for the old playground, get a good ride on that too.
Looking forward to seeing what happens over the next 6 months, not sure if this indoor play aria is going to become a thing, lol all the hype and adds for it were very pre-mature. But at least the Castle has been giving a new life.

What would they put there though? I can just see it being a small ride like a "twister". Anything is better than nothing I suppose!

They have been talking about this play area for a while now! Time to put it in action...

Well I'd think an Enterprise would fit snug there.... bit who knows, so long as it's replaced that's all matters. Maybe an Air Race? Bagatelle got one this year so you never know. I'm not personally bothered by them but would be good addition to the park.

such a shame after all the work on the refurb, perhaps somebody will buy it cheap and get it going who knows, they must have something lined up or they would have left it in situe limping for another year

It’s a shame it never really worked properly after the refurb! And it was such a good refurb!!

Oh well here’s to a great 2018 with 2 new rides on the park 😉

Maybe PWH will turn around and shock us! Has anyone heard of any planning permission yet?

Since getting that thing from the council they only require planning permission to build anything over 25m (basically 80ft).
