When I went earlier in the season it was at least spinning and had some force, but now it kind of just drags it's self around and you can tell the motor doesn't even properly kick in by the noise.

I'm really sad to say but they can't keep just using it like this and not get it fixed as it feels really unprofessional and sounds very unappealing.

What is the main issue with TTT? Is it something that is too expensive to fix or a part that hard to find or even that the problem is unknown?

There's a difference between longest serving and oldest, coolskin ;)

Rattlesnake is actually 30 years old this year! I hope they're going to do something about that.

I would imagine that the large railway is the longest serving attraction, as that opened with the park.

Thought Rattlesnake was older than that, i never recall a time they never had it.
Part of me still things there was a different theme between The ladybird and Snake... but suspect I've imagined it.
I certainly recall the old doors along the queue line for each car.

as @Bubbles mentioned in another thread about an Enterprise being for sale, perhaps PWH could invest in a working one, whilst using the current one for parts or maybe the park should invest in something more modern and reliable.

Maybe the park should just replace the tri-star with an enterprise :P Why did the park get rid of it originally anyway?

an enterprise was so close by ;-) not sure why our original went it served its last season in 1997 after a repaint over winter when it became phoenix. The new style ones look good too I have to say

It's not only failing to lift, but also running like crap. I haven't been to PWH nearly as much as last year but there's definitely a big difference between how it ran then and what it's like now. Not saying it wasn't crap last year as well, but this year, as far as I could tell anyway, the motors never even fully powered up. Utterly useless and forceless, needs removed (parrots will be thanking their luck if it is, poor things having to put up with that noise all day...)

They insist in keeping this broken ride and two dodgems but they got rid if the kids waveswinger.. lol i'm sure it makes sense but i can't work it out.

It doesn't even spin during the main cycle. It stars off by spinning and then just kind of throws you around at speed without spinning during the main cycle. Kind of hurts really if I'm honest, it forces you into the side of the goldola. Other than that it's got no force to it. Last year it had some decent laterals when it powered up fully because it actually spun during the main cycle, but now i'd take one of them twister things you see at fairs (think theres one at GYPB as well) over it any day. It's site is literally perfect for another flat like an air race or sky fly. An air race could be themed up nicely with wipeout, they could give it a sponsorship with the RNLI or something.

Hi all, I'm new here!

I'm a a bit of a ride historian geek. Now that the Chair-O-Plane has left the park I do believe that Tide Traveller is physically the oldest ride in the park. It was built by HUSS for Dutch showman De Vries in 1977. It spent the 1991 & 1992 seasons at Alton Towers as "Tri-Star", before leaving for Pleasure Island (Cleethorpes) for its opening season - 1993. After 2 seasons here it joined Pleasure Island's sister park Flamingoland and was given the name "Flamingo Star". In 1996 it underwent an extensive refurbishment by Nauta Bussink. It was put up for sale by Flamingoland and purchased by Pleasurewood for the start of 2005.

Only 5 of these machines were ever built by HUSS, and the U.K. has seen 2 of them. The other one was new to German showman Walter Rick in 1977. It was purchased by Bembom Bros. for Dreamland Margate for the 1982 season. Following the sale of the park to Jimmy Godden, the Tri-Star was swapped with "The Bounty" Pirate Ship at Folkestone. The Tri-Star operated in Folkestone until the end of 2000 when it was put up for sale, although I have no information on it after this.

Looking at the fate of the other Tri-Stars that were built, I would definitely say this ride has come to the end of its life. It hardly gave the best ride back in the day, and certainly isn't worth throwing any more money at now. A Polyp (Octopus) would fit in nicely with the area.
