The future of Snake in the Grass

Hi people, I received a message which was sent to be added to the "Ride and Rate" section of Unofficial Pleasurewood but i thought it worth posting here too for discussion. Genuine or hoax, what do you think?

"I work at Pleasurewood Hills and have done for 2 years now and they are thinking about getting rid of Snake In The Grass to put a new water ride there an online pettition should come out on 25:09:2011 so please could everyone fight to keep it open!"

If this is genuine the great. I for one won't be signing the petition (why 25th September?), it's a tired old ride and has seen better days. Seems to me that they may have left the tunnel the way it is after deciding to remove it.

I'd be gutted to see the Rattlesnake go, its one of the longest lasting original attractions!

For the record, and if it is true, I WILL be signing the petition; Replacing rides is not the way forward, the park needs more rides! And if this is true, I bet it would be replaced with a Reverchon travelling Rapids. Which would be a good addition to the park, but I certainly wouldn't swap a good solid family coaster for one.

I'd actually prefer to see it replaced with another coaster but at that end of the park they do need a quieter ride I would imagine. A travelling rapids ride would be OK but only OK in my opinion.

i will be signing this petition because if they do want a rapids ride in that area they could move sitg to another part of the park

I can understand why you guys like SITG so much, I mean it was my first ever roller coaster so it does hold some special memories for me but it is just so tired now. Some of you have even said yourselves that sometimes it barely seems to get around the track. The park have ruined it by removing the tunnel and for no apparent reason so to me it is really time to lay it to rest. It is iconic for the park and has a place in its history but it is time. If this is true then I'm with the park.

I do understand what you're saying, but to me, the park is in NO situation to be replacing something half decent like SITG, when we still have rides like Thunderstruck, Tales of the Coast and Fairytale Fantasy...

Ultimately (again, if this IS true), it boils down to what it would be replaced with. If its one of them Rapids; bad move in my opinion, as there is plenty of space to accomodate some of them as well as SITG. However, if it were to be replaced with something like a Mack Watercoaster, then yeah, that does change everything! :D

At the end of the day, things apparently aren't going to well for the park, so they need to asses the situation. Biggest problem is lack of rides, plus lack of new rides. Easiest solution, buy 2 or 3 new rides to fill the park up. And once they have done that, then they can start looking at replacing some of the crappy rides (all they have to do is look at the park map to see just how much space they have).

(And to be honest, the only problem SITG has is its train. Treetops coaster at Oakwood runs a lot faster, and it doesn't make half as much noise as SITG does. I think they done something to the train to generate all that noise when it first became the Rattlesnake. It would be very good for future planning etc if they were to sort that out really. And maybe shorten the train a bit to help speed the thing up.)

typical pleasurewood though, add a ride, take one away, add a ride, take one away!

why not just try add new ride FULL STOP

sitg always has a que, unlike some other rides there, i would have thought that says enough really, they just need 3 new smaller rides, traveling ones if need be,

anybody been on one called tango, you dont see that much, they need some unique ones like this to draw people in, even if they hire them

but yea if not i think the future is dire! i still have 2 half price tickets let so will check things out in a nother month or so

I agree with what you guys are saying and in response I will say now that I would vote to keep SITG not because I love it but because you make a good point about the removal of another ride. I would much rather Thunderstruck or FFR was removed and replaced. Let's just hope that we do get a mid-quality installation - one that will entice customers back to PWH. A prime time TV advert saying "Come and ride the UK's fastest launch coaster at PWH" or simply "the UK's first water coaster", something that will make people actually think about coming.

Not "come and ride the roller coaster that we've now had for 4 years, or the other one we've had for 15 years or why not try our exciting 27 year old coaster, you'll want to keep coming back to the same old **** year on year at Pleasurewood Hills!"

at mo we only have 3 roller-coasters at pwh wait until we get some more coasters, we need one more family coaster and one more big coaster and then start replacing rides one at a time with another of the same type

I think someone should ask about the tunnel of SITG on their FB page. The old one was great and only needed a touch up...

SITG would have to be replaced by another family coaster, surely? I operated the Rattlesnake back in 2003 and i can honestly say its the only ride at PWH which is ridden by everyone - thrill seakers, families, kids etc. Its a 'fun' ride if you see what i mean.

I went on the Rapids ride at Ligh****er Valley and found it very disappointing - it was dull - little spinning and no hint of getting wet, so i seriously hope a similar model would not go in its place.

I dont think the Rapids are that bad of an attraction, but I dont want to loose an attraction to gain them. Like you said, they ain't amazing, they're just ok, so I'd be pleased to see them as an extra attraction, but not as a replacement.

I think they need to get a F'ing grip - Just put your hand in your pocket and re-theme the Snake and buy a rapid and re-theme that aswell while you're at it!

If they had any vision they wouldn't need a petition!

I went to Plopsaland on Saturday (awsome park), they have a Tivoli-Large (SITG), and it too suffers with ridiculous noise caused by the wheels, so I guess I was wrong when I said the wheels we made like that to resemble the 'rattle' in the snake ;)

I see on FB they have said that they have no plans to improve the tunnel on SITG... :(

The 25th of September is nearly upon us...

Since we heard of this at the beginning of May, we've found out about the Drop Tower, another new ride, and the Enigma refit, so I doubt this is true at all now.

I personaly used to love this ride untill they fitted the new tunnel and let it run down. Also beacuse they got wipe out so really i think that they sould get rid of it as it doesn't work very well and its old so they should get rid of it
