Wipeout

Heyya

Went up to the hills yesterday and wipeout broke down between the hoop and the second lift hill. Just phoned up today asking if wipeout will be open today and they said it will not be operating for a while until new parts come in for the coaster.

This is bad news seeing as its the main attraction in the park.

That is very bad news, I hope their site highlights this clearly for customers. Thanks for clearing up why it went down.

Actually says nothing on their website regarding ride closure and they haven't mentioned it on Twitter. Poor show PWH

I bet all they do is put a small sign up in the entrance kiosks to cover their backs so they don't have to give refunds... This is why we need more than one top ride. Either another big coaster or BIG thrill ride to cover one breaking down.

This is, however, Wipeout's fitrst major breakdown since it's been here, not bad for a ~15 year old ride.

went up to pwh this afternoon about 3.30ish and wipeout was still in the same position by 5.00 it was at the top of the 2nd life hill still hooked on.

As we entered the park there was a silly little sign saying wipeout was shut

I asked diane on the desk and she said wipeout will be shut for tomorrow

Wipeout Breakdown

Well its a good sign to see its up the top of the lift already.

I'd be interested to know whow/why it stalled. I guess something may have been up with the chain and/or the catches under the train.

Edit: Reece said there were passengers on board, so it must have been one of the two things I mentioned.

Also, it is very odd how the park seems to have completely died on the social networking front!

25? Bloody hell! Surprised it isn't decaying before our eyes :p

Good to see it's made it to the top of the hill though, hopefully they'll be able to fix it soon!

For it to be fully loaded, yet not make it up the lift would mean one of two things:

The brakes in between the loop/second lift were jammed on, and/or somehow the train wouldn't catch onto the chain.

If it is the latter, then its a good sign that the train is sitting at the top of the second lift.

And like you say, with out Wipeout, the park is a bit 'meh', and there's no point turning left when you enter the park!

I'm glad Wipeout is being fixed now but I wish they'd just put it on Twitter every morning like they promised to about ride closures. I know I'd be bloomin' disappointed if I got there and found it was down the whole day. I suggested to the Missus that we head up there tomorrow but as Wipeout is still down then it wouldn't be worth it.

Some mixed messages seem to be coming across about Sky Hooks. Seems it was just being redone.

Ohh shame about you not going Josh, would have been nice to have gotten a new trip report. Will you be plannnig on going any time soon?

Really hope the repainted Enigma trains spell a revamp on the way.... ?

Yeah me too, I am going to try and get up to the park during May. I am going to Great Yarmouth tomorrow instead so will take a look around Pleasure Beach and see what's going on there. Apparently the weather is going to be really warm again tomorrow.

As for Enigma, I hope during the closed period after Easter they do some more to it.

I guess it has reopened as they have put a picture up on FB of a long queue from today!

Yeah they Tweeted earlier on today saying that it was back up and running. Drove past the Hills today on my way to Yarmouth - I really wanted to go but with the baby in tow it probably wouldn't have been wise.

Yeah, we visited the Sea Life centre and just walked around for a few hours, the baby loved the Sea Life centre, loads of coloured lights kept her entertained. PWH would have been better though!

I've changed the title of this thread so we can have one topic for general Wipeout chatter.

Anyway, Coasterfriends.de visited the park recenty, and htey got some good pics, and some of them show that they're still faffing around with Wipeout's seats:

Back car is now closed off:

And the car near the front is now being used:

For the rest of the pics, click HERE.

The official Wipeout thread

This teddy thing is taking the p**s really. Its August and the busiest time of year. I would be well unhappy about long queuing for a ride which is running 8 short of capacity, esp. if it IS just due to ORP probs.......

And to close off the rear car.....well that JUST TAKES THE BUSCUIT. A simple sign stating the fact that photos are not avaliable from the rear cars and BINGO a full train, yes?

Also that last picture shows WIPEout needs a WIPE clean, methinks.

^ That front car needs a respray!

They have been sprucing the train up, as I noticed that the underside of it is now orange, as well as the wheel bogies. You can see it in that pic.

Haha, those frogs look brilliant! But it is a poor show having the three back rows unused. What the hell is going on PWH!!?

Because I'm unable to move posts, heres what voiceoverguy said in the 1986 topic, which clearly deserves to be in here!

All being well The October season, and next season Wipeout will have new music themeing around it voiced by yours truly. It's going to be set as an Austrailian radio station with beach and modern lively songs giving it much more impact. I'm currently working on it, and should be completed shortly!

Sorry if that's not as exciting as you'd hoped. By all means start and new topic and discuss!! I think it's exciting!!

I think thats quite cool, very nice and original, and shows that the people running the park have some imagination. You dont see stuff like this at the smaller parks, so it is good, BUT, I feel that sorting the other problems with Wipeout should be of more importance, such as the capacity and the awful position of the ORP.

Are you going to give us a preview?
