Future plans (Drop tower, Caravan park...)

I guess this was from Hobohippie on Facebook:

aparrently they are going to scrap the dodgems, and move the rest of the rides in that area up to the rest of the park and are gonna put in a caravan park there, and relocate wizzy dizzy to near wipeout and put a drop tower in it's place and they are going to get some more rides before summer.

Where did you hear this from Matty?

I certainly hope the caravan park rumour isnt't true, the park is small enough as it is!

More rides before summer certainly sounds interesting though...

(And I mentioned about a drop tower and relocating Fireball on their Facebook, I wonder if they read that?)

RE: Future plans....

Hmm, would explain the tunnel on SITG i guess. I'm sure a similar relocation of rides away from that area has been talked about before......

I dont see a problem in a caravan park, so long as they expand the park in another direction.

They did say they wanted the park to become more like Flamingoland, but I really dont think there's currently enough on offer to warrant accomodation.

They need to get thier priorities right - the get the park attracting maximum people then expand into accommodation.

Yeah, I agree with Livewireguy. Plus a caravan park! How about something a bit more stylish like wooden cabins or chalets for accommodation.

Drop tower sounds good, as long as it's a permanent model like an Intamin and well themed!

^ I'd be just as happy with another Mega Drop, they ARE awsome, and they dont really look like a travelling ride. Yeah, an Intamin would be fab, but ya cant be too greedy ay?!

Just as long as its not one of them awful Big Ben towers that travel the Country. They are dire.

Anyway, who says all this is true? We need Hobohippie to tell us where he heard it.

I can only assume Matt heard it from a ride operator, and if that's the case I think it should be taken with a pinch of salt. Interesting nonetheless, and may ring true as the park struggle with planning consent with that end be very close to residential housing. Who knows?

Remember, he went with a large group, so *maybe* a manager came out and had a chat with them, show them round etc?

I'll ask on their FB.

No need for me to do that, Pleasurewood have responded themselves:

Thank you everyone for the discussion about the rides at Pleasurewood Hills. We like to see that everyone here is so passionate about the park and excited for the coming year.
In response to Matthew, some of the information is purely rumour but as nothing is set in stone we can not release any information regarding new rides as yet.
For up to date information about the park check out our Twitter

I'm guessing that the caravan park is the rumour then, because it sounds like there is clearly some new rides in the pipeline for this year!

YAY.

Finally, Pleasurewood seems to be turning a corner. They say that they have improved there online efforts because of the new era, and they have kept it up.

Exciting times it would seem, funny to think of things we would have been excited about a year ago...

To me, its really encouraging hearing them say stuff like this:

"We like to see that everyone here is so passionate about the park and excited for the coming year".

The word passionate isn't used enough to describe how some people feel about stuff like this.

I think a drop tower is probably something that could be happening... have to say I am really liking this new management. There online efforts have been great and the improvements with painting have been good aswell. Wonder what else they have spruced up? smile

Why are you only posting important stuff on their Facebook page?lol

@ everyone i have heard it from a worker there by the name of strechy and the manager said that they were getting more rides for summer, and the nature trail is being postponed to next year

Right, my guess is the ride op is talking rubbish, and the manager is on about the Laser Labyrinth when he says more rides for summer.

no, beacause, he said that no one outside of the main park managemnent knows about these new rides so, it can't be the lazer labrinth beacuse we all know about this, i can't wait to see what it means

Just as long as it's a decent installation and not an Outrage GYPB style fairground installation. I don't mind a portable ride model as long as the fairground theming boards are removed and it is made to look like a high quality theme park attraction.

Anything with lights on looks tacky.

If they got rid of the lights on Fireball and painted it or stuck some theming on it would look 100x better even though it's portable...

True, I wish they'd replace it with a theme park model. Eagles Claw at LWV and Vortex at TP look so much better!

I would normally agree, but I dont mind the look of Fireball. I think the red and white go well together. Its quite 'pretty' looking, especially with a nice blue sky in the background.

I just hate lights. Red and white is fine - just not the fairground lightbulbs...

Again, I would normally agree, but I think the lights on the back of the seats enhance the look at bit.

What PWH did with Timber Falls is a prime example of how they could overhaul the travelling rides and make them look more permanent. I have grown used to how Fireball looks but as I've said a hundred times, less fairground more theme park.

There's aren't actually that many travelling rides left at the park nowadays: Fireball, Waveswinger Enigma, Tunderstruck and at a push: Dodgems and Pirate Ship.

And I dont think Thunderstruck actually looks that 'fairground-ish' either.
