RE: The Football Thread

Tough start! I couldn't believe the shorelines yesterday! Especially West Brom, I can't believe that game!

*Scorelines. But yes, on the brightside were not bottom, look what happened last time we ended up 2nd to bottom of a table after the first game of the season...

Are you suggesting Norwich will win the league? ;)

Sorry hobo, there is no bright side at all. We lost the opening game of the season 5-0, to FULHAM!

We were never defeated like under Lambert until his third season, when we came up agains't money bags Man City. Its only one game I know, but that first game can shape the whole season, especially in the Premier League. I bet Norwich are now favourites to be relegated.

It wasn't just that match either... i watched them in pre-season and they were just as bad if not worse!

Dream on tbh...

We're through to Round 3 of the League Cup. A decidedly average performance but one with some promising performances from individual players. Hughton played the 'B' team an they did what they needed to do. Some fantastic football was played but the team did not create enough chances - however they never truly looked like throwing it all away. Hopefully this can be the start of a decent cup run!

I'd rather stay in the league tbh.

Saturday's result was a bit of a disaster.... and what on earth is the man doing, having Chris Martin in the squad?

It's the cup and early on at that so I'd rather he used the fringe players than the first team. I would much prefer to stay in the league then to have a cup run but a few wins in the cup would do wonders for confidence and would be great for some of our second string players...

Well after yesterdays performance, I am feeling a little bit more confident now. City played very well and should have won.

Well, a win is a win (and a clean sheet - again), but we should really have done better agains't League 1 opposition.

And I really cannot understand why he is sticking with Chris Martin...

I think Houghton can be the man for us, but not with out current squad, this is still Lambert's squad. They are going to need to spend money in January big time. New managers need time to make their changes and make them work, but at the moment we just dont have that time. He had plenty of time to adjust the squad over the summer, and he just didn't do knowhere near enough.

I agree, at least Snodgrass has been playing well, you never know we might win a premier league game this season :O

I know we're not expected to beat Chelsea, but we're just playing so badly and getting thrashed every week :(

1-1 isn't a bad result I guess, though going by what people have said on TV, City should have won and were by far the better team.

Encouraging stuff.

Good result today :D COME ON YOU YELLOWS!

I heard the last 5 minuites of the first half on SIGNAL-1 Fm in stoke, when visiting my big brother, just in time to hear norwich score, although one presenter earlier did mention that they were up against the might of northwich

Yeah, 3 wins and a draw from the last 4 games is good, especially when you list the teams we played! Arsenal, Aston Villa, Tottenham and Stoke!

What a result yesterday!

I honeslty never expected us to get a result a Swansea, and we scored 4 goals!

Yeah I was impressed Swansea and The Liberty is a tough game, we were held to a draw there so Norwich did really well to win and score 4 past them.

^ To be fair, and I'll be blunt here. Liverpool are crap. They have took soooo many steps backwards in the last few years, and this year they have taken a giant leap backwards.

I'm not gonna argue with you there, although maybe I should. Last season I watched Liverpool in absolute despair, we were playing very poor football and the results spoke for themselves. The difference this season doesn't look much on paper and performance but the way the games are being played is much better. BR has made a difference and at the moment it is a work in progress but I can see this style working and paying off. The problem with club owners and fans alike is they expect things to turn around over night which is so unrealistic. I will support Liverpool no matter what, no matter who manages or plays for them. I trust BR and I certainly believe we will improve in the second half of the season.
