RE: 30 years of Pleasurewood Hills: 2013

I don't care how old it is, it's a ride pretty much anyone can enjoy. Not everything has to be super fast and spinning round like demented wheel. PWH is just not that kind of park. It's not about 'good old days' it's about doing what's best for the park and its audience. It's more thrilling than a tea cup ride???

Highest location in the park should matter regarding a drop tower, they could soon re-located and raise the land up a bit to compensate. But what's the point in having a drop tower in the edge? Stick it in the middle and everyone can see you and you can see them. It's the perfect location. It would also have a nice que line and there's a patch of grass I think if people want to sit and watch.

First, I would say an adult size independantly spinning tea cup ride like Spinning Spider at Legoland Windsor is great fun, you can customise your ride, and certainly it would be better than a ride which just tips you upside down.

Secondly, where it is at the moment there is a patch of grass where you can sit and watch, and there are picnic benches, and a childrens play area, it would be easier to leave it where it is, you can see it from everywhere on park, and you can see the park, on a good clear day, you can see right accross to Near Great Yarmouth if you face in the right direction.

PWH has room for several new rides. Enterpize is just one example, something everyone can enjoy, keeping a balance, that's what made PHW such a cool place back in the day.

And i'm sorry but the tower Is in the wrong location, ride location is very important when it comes to making the most of what you've got and keeping things visually pleasant. It's current location would be better suited for something else. (Enterprize for example)

Kinda like when they had that horrific 'eye in the sky' and plonked it on the outskirts of the park... No no no... it's not very good planning.

Play area just has to be moved to the bottom end of the park where they can't build, that patch of land wont go to waste then.

Of course theses are just my personal opinions.
Enterprise will *never* return.. i'm just using it as an example.

Well i'm very drawn on the enterprise, Having never ridden one.. However my mum worked on PWH's enterprise. And from what i've heard it was a great ride.. Don't forget also there isn't a lot about anymore, So it would be an interesting ride to have instead of say a magic mouse. I mean, How many Magic Mouses are there in the UK alone?!

But of course any rides would be good!

Enterpize is just one example, something everyone can enjoy,

Not that this is an argument, but your arguement of "something everyone can enjoy" doesn't hold much weight, for a couple of reasons; 1, you could just say that about any ride, and 2, Enterprise's are quite stomach churning, they're very forceful, and you "go upside down" around 10 times (possibly more).

In saying that, I wouldn't be unhappy if they did get an Enterprise, mainly due to the lack of thrill rides the park has, but I wouldn't wish for one myself.

It is a family ride though? And the cars are fully enclosed..

How do you define a family ride?

When I was little my grandmother use to take me on it. It wasn't stomach churning at all, I feel fair worse after a ride on the pirate ship than any other.

And as a rule it is something everyone can enjoy and that CAN NOT be said about everything.
The Drop tower for example is not something everyone can enjoy... I certainly don't

I think the thing you're misunderstanding here is opinions. It's your opinion that "everyone can enjoy" an Enterprise, and it's your opinion that "The Drop tower for example is not something everyone can enjoy".

In saying that, I do agree on the Drop tower front.

Well Bubbles, let me disprove your theory in one simple sentence:

I do not enjoy enterprise rides.

Also, I would think of a family ride something like TOTC, something everyone can go on, and can all fit on together.

Yes it's a 'family ride' You can fit two in a car, or go solo.

In that case, Wipeout is also a family ride.

A family ride tends to be something gentler that the whole family can enjoy together. A family-thrill ride would be something a bit more thrilling that the family could go on together (like a Pirate Ship). A thrill ride would be something that, although families may ride it, is primarily aimed at those wanting to experience something more exciting and thrilling - and Enterprises are that: thrill rides.

Enterprises are very thrilling rides in terms of the effect they have on people - the fact that they are very old though is a reason *not* to get one. Why should the park go back to a ride that is generally on its last legs everywhere that has one? Why shouldn't they apply the same thrilling qualities to a newer ride which brings something new to the park...

Just because you say everyone can enjoy an Enterprise doesn't mean that everyone can. It's opinion, not fact.

The discussion probably isn't going to go much further tbh, so there's not much point.

I was using it as an example of the type of 'thrill ride' that would be useful to a park like PWH..as it can be used by almost everyone... this means it's audience is a lot more varied then some of those massive whizzy things I see advertised on Alton Towers. (they've still got an Enterprise for what it's worth lol )

It's never coming back so it doesn't matter

So it is a thrill ride then and not a family one like you said? Any thrill ride can be used by almost everyone, it just depends whether people choose to go on it or not...

Sorry Martyn for continuing.

Train, Cine180 and Boats were the first in 1983. In 1987 there were quite a few!

Nice that awesome. that map is a bit early then my memory but not much changed for a few years by the looks of things.
I had forgotten the Chair lift had a different route.

Lots of stuff, not many 'rides' like today.

Did the chairlift have a different route? To me, it just looksl like how the map has been been drawn correctly.

I know the map is oddly drawn, but according to that the chair life barely goes over the lake.
Maybe it ever really did go like that, but looking at it just feels very familiar

I don't think it was ever moved. What would be the point?

I highly doubt it has been moved.. The map is drawn oddly. You can see the position of the old Troika, Which is now where the kite flyers are?? Which is near one end of the chairlift.

number 35 on the map is the Rotor which is where I Kite flyers are or were.
But I thought the reason it was re-named 'merry go straight' was due to them changing the route?

Maybe not then.

They never changed the route... It was renamed when CdA came in and renamed every ride.

Thats like calling a Carousel "Merry Go Nowhere Slowly" When down for maintenance!

..And sorry yes you are right. I did mean the Rotor not the Troika. I mis-read the map! Oops! blankstare

Pretty certain it ended up at Loudoun.

Like most old PWH rides....
