RE: Fireball

I have to admit, Thorpe park's did not seem as good as it has been yet maybe I was imagining that....

Fireball looks awful, it really could be such a nice ride, I just wish they would spend some TLC on it.

2012 end of season removal ? well I would hope not yet if they do it has to be replaced - we can not afford to be a ride short

If it is cost cutting, I'd rather they just opened it at 12pm and closed it an hour before the park, and have it ran properly for them 4 hours. But it cant be to do with cost cutting, its a popular ride that never has empty seats.

If it did go, would you like to see a park model replace it? I dont know myself. The models at Ligh****er and Thorpe look quite dull and ugly, yet I quite like the white and red colour scheme that Fireball has, its nice and bright without being too in your face (yes, I'm looking at you, big train!).

If it stays lets hope for some major winter work on it......

This is as high as Fireball swings now:

That, plus the enormous queue = not worth it. Which saddens me really, as its one of favourite ride types.

You can clearly see its a very popular ride.

Hopefully they are just waiting on a part for it, otherwise its shocking really. Its not even on a longer setting is it?

The one at the Norfolk Show today was on a very fast seeing by the looks of things.

Was that Oblivion? Was very surprised not to see that at the Air Show.

I rate Fireball - the 'Midi' sized Afterburner - more than the smaller ones like said Oblivion and the larger ones such as Vortex at Thorpe. Fireball, Eagles Claw etc (when run properly!) seem more intense to me.

The lowie airshow fair this year was very poor. Think this was partly due to it being in June this year. Has anyone asked about Fireball ?

It was Tango at the Norfolk show. It has a more 'elongated' claw bit.

Similar to this one

Someone, somewhere, isn't telling the truth. When I visited, this was as high as the gondola was swinging (give or take an inch or two):

Yet look at this picture from 2006:

...and its not even at its highest point in that pic.

It goes to show that there is a massive difference to how its being run now!

Okay, to answers Matthews questions from our FB page, I spoke to the operations team who have said that fireball, sky hooks and pirate ship all are running at 100%. There are no cost cutting ideas, no operational problems or anything with these rides at all.
I know Reece said once that he was asking the questions on our FB just so we put it up on there, but if you want to ask any questions like that I would much prefer to answer them on here for you all.

So after 11 years in the same spot, fireball is being moved to the old hungry bears site for 2014! Great news, but iny opinion they'll need to do some landscaping to make it fit it. Its a very flat concrete area that looks quite dull. Imo they should strip the ride down as much as they can and stick some smallish tree's behind it to block the view from the car park. Some basic gardening like what they did with Sky Hooks would make that little area look really nice.

I think its going to look ok...the hedge is higher than you think.... will the ride face the rattlesnake or the path as you approach ?

I think they should give Fireball a crater volcano theme (I know it'll probably never happen), put some fake rock like things around the bottom of the frame (similar to the old tunnels on Rattlesnake) and give the a frame/pendulum a fiery paint scheme with all red lights for Halloween!

On that not, bring back the rock tunnels on Rattlesnake and give the whole bottom end of the park a tropical island theme! Wipeout could be like the shore!

While I want to be optimistic I think it will just be plonked on site for the time being.

Cant find a picture of it finished yet, but so far:

It looks pretty good. And would suit Pleasurewood perfectly with the nautical theme...

Ah I forgot about this! I actually have no doubt that Pleasurewood are more than capable of this type of makeover. Looks great.

PS Do people think PWH needs more giant rocks? Just a thought...chin

Cool, that's the sort of theming PWH need to produced and they can do it.
More rocks? Yes, the park needs more landscaping.
