I would love to see Whirlwind at PWH, but apparently it is in a bit of a state. Though I guess it would be a worthwile investment if they bought it and invested in a refurb?
I get the feeling the GYPB spinner could well be this:
And it will most probably be rented....

Just had a proper read of that, there's a few things worth discussing:
- Rides are now being removed from the south area of the park (where are they going? What's staying/being removed? - coolskin, get your arse up there with your camera!lol))
- Spinning coaster (where is it going to go, with the rides being moved from the south area, there wont be much room! What coaster is it? Whirlwind from Camelot, the ususal Reverchon crap, or maybe the M&D's Fabbri spinner that was at Bridlington last year?)
- Log Flume being removed and replaced by an indoor attraction by 2015 (mentions being open all year, so don't expect a 'dark ride' attraction, more of an entertainment complex etc)
Anyway, with regards to the Log Flume, the exact words are "His vision is to replace the park’s log flume lake with a large indoor attraction", implying that the Log Flume has already gone?! Or maybe (hopefully) they're on about the other lake that was drained a while back, next to the flume?
This is good news for GYPB however I don't see how Whirlwind could be placed anywhere, It has quite a bit footprint! and I hope the maintenance team give it a good paint first! It is a great improvement for 2013 however its a shame PWH didn't try to get it!
According to HACKS over on UKRides, the Go-Karts, Waltzer, Snake Slides, Cowboy ride and Evolution were all up for sale in the Worlds Fair a couple of weeks ago!
I'm surprised they want rid of the Waltzers, they're an iconic attraction for any seaside park!
I will do my best to venture soon. Surprised such an investment being made so soon..... its long overdue mind you....
Last official word I was told which was late summer was that the new casino stuff etc will come right in next to the end of the rollercoaster.. so a fair bit of space to go...would make sense to fill in the log flume which is a bloody eyesore and put extra rides that end to make the place look more appealing as you approach
To be honest, loosing that back end of the park isn't any great loss. It was full of tosh, and was always dead.
But I agree, they need to do something with the outside of the park, just dont get rid of the Flume. They need to make it all feel like one amusement park, because at the minute, it's part amusement park, and part outside-gardens-with-log-flume-and-other-crap-that-no-one-cares-about.
Knock down that main entrance by Disk'O and stick some of the rides out by the flume/gardens.
I only realised earlier that this is the first time in my LIFE that GYPB are doing something worth talking about!haha
I would have nipped up to GYPB tomorrow, but it's soon after the christmas break, they probably haven't been doing much, so I may pop up in a couple of weeks. Unless coolskin is going by anytime soon?
I don't believe that the Condor which was at Pleasure Island was the ex GYPB as it had different design cars
If you check that video I posted above, you'l seel the arms on Condor have "Pleasure Beach" all over them, so where ever it would have gone, it would have recieved a repaint.
And woop, that means I rode the GYPB Toboggan in October 2011! And trust me, they get a damn sight more interesting when you get bigger!

Ive watched that video many times last year and remember them all well... it was a great place then... then again pwh was good then too.... and it was always heaving
^I miss the Water Chute, Magic Carpet and Its Bad so so much. The early 90s were the height of the industry in my time as far as I'm concerned, and that includes all the latest developments at AT and Thrope etc. Such atmosphere and attention accross whole parks was evident.

Any one know where the rides went too ? and the condor and toboggan rollercoaster thing ? Are they still in use anywhere ?
I think in them days it was all about the seaside. All seaside parks were fab back then, yet they've all pretty much declined over the last 10/15 years, whilst the inland parks have boomed in that time.
Who would have thought we'd all be crying over a Pinfari Looper!

Chances are they are all on the fair circuit. Considering how often fair rides get repainted, it's impossible to find us to out the history of a specific ride. Though going by some (sensible) comments on Youtube, the Condor was the one that went to Pleasure Island for a bit (they tried to sell it on eBay!) and was then sold to someone in France, whether that's a park or showman I do not know. There's a Toboggan that travels the UK fair circuit, could well be the one from GYPB, and I dont think we have any travelling Magic Carpets in the UK, so chances are that has gone abroad or been scrapped.
I remember the Chute like it was yesterday. It used to scare me SO much!
The Toboggan is now on the travelling circuit and is own by Stewart Miller. I last see the ride at Hull fair 2012.I don't believe that the Condor which was at Pleasure Island was the ex GYPB as it had different design cars. Does anyone on here rember the Superloops ride which Madness rode in the House of Fun video.? GYPB was a great park in the 80's +90's and had one of the best flat ride line ups in the UK.
Yeah, think so. At least that is settled now. My money is on the M&D's Mad Mouse coaster that was at Bridlington last year. Ask them if they've purchased it or if they're renting it....
