The new Yarmouth casino, odeon cinema , hotel and more will open at the end of the Pleasure Beach - parts of the go karts will move or be relocated as the new complex will go right into the park leading to signifigant investment for the pleasurebeach in the future
ooooh just did some googleing, glad its finally all sorted and could be built in a little over 2 years :) should bring some more visitors to the pleasurebeach too which will hopefully get it some money so it can too be transformed from the complete dive that it is :)
This all seems odd to me. Whilst it sounds very good, I think the perfect saying where is "what you give with one hand, you take with the other". You can guarantee that this developement will see the closure of the Hollywood Cinema and possibly another casino.
Also, i would imagine it'll be run completely seperate to the PB. Even if it is a success, i can't see how that would result in them all of a sudden pouring money into the Pleasure Beach.....
The location is also very wrong. Zero passing trade, no tourists up that end, no public transport of any note and away from the town centre.
Great Yarmouth does not have anywhere near the population to support one, never mind three casinos or two cinemas, so yeah i can see closures.
Thing is though, you cant help but think that en entertainment venue like this should boost the town/resort.
It is a MASSIVE gamble on the Pleasure Beach's part, and I do hope it pays off. I bet this is the reason why there has been little to no investment in the PB, as they're saving all their pennies for this.
And I do think this *could* be good for the PB, its clearly going to be a 'high class' venue, but its next to the skanky PB, so they're going to need to sort that out, surely?
I know I'm being a bit positive here, but I've had a think about it. I mean Odeon are getting involved for godsake, so they clearly expect this to be a big success. Also, the hotel will no doubt be the official PB hotel, which sounds mental in its own right, but with all this, they just cant keep the PB a dumping ground for travelling rides.
Anyone have any links to the planning application, so we can see exactly what they intend on building?

Albert is hoping to invest in pbeach once the casino is up and going, the casino has to make money first, the land that will house the casino and new things will be owned by gypb yet likely to be leased to other people
I can't help but think that this will just eat up all the possible space available for PB expansion though...
If/when this does get built and it is (probably) a success... it will block off the Pleasure Beach entirely at the far end, leaving a limited space for any expansion/refresh/renew/rebuild.
Once it is built though, serious work will need to be done to the PB - it just will not work otherwise.
See, I thought that too, but they can always expand the other way, which would probably work better, as its expanding in the right direction, where as the other way, its just a big industrial area. And to be honest, the PB is fairly big as it is, they just dont use the space very well.
But yeah, the PB will need to be sorted out with all this.
They certainly don't need Gardens/Flume/PB to all be separate. There aren't any dividing roads anymore so the whole thing could be tied together nicely.
The monorail will be relocated slightly, work starts as soon as they shut in October. Travelodge, odeon, frankie and bennys and or nandos will open on the new site too. Plus a luxury hotel too. Many locals think its bad news all round, with many saying sort the PB out first.... Two full page spread in todays Yarmouth Mercury
I did hear through a good source that they held off as the new complex site will come right up to the rollercoaster nearly - so wanted to wait until it was shut before removing/relocating rides and then building the whole new area

Anyone have any idea why they're going to start this at the end of the year? Had they got a move on when they got the license, they could have had some thigns ready in time for the peak season next year.... but as they're not going to start for another 6 months, its probably going to be at least 2014 before anything opens...
I was just wondering if anyone knows how strict PB are on height restrictions, please? My son's 109cm (with shoes) and we found out at PWH that he's past his fear of *everything*, so was considering a visit tomorrow. Alas, he loved the Timber Falls and Shiver M'Timbers, but the PB equivalents are both 1.1m
*considers investing in stretching rack*
