RE: Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach

Sky Drop isn't always dismantled every winter - I visit Yarm quite a lot in winter and I've never seen it dismantled before.

It may well be maintenance, but they don't do it every year.

I have been informed by GYPB that the Log Flume is undergoing extensive maintenance rather than being removed.

The Waltzers are not being removed. They are having a major refurbishment. Sky Drop has also been dismantled for a respray and mechanical refurb. Pirate ship and fun house are also undergoing a fair amount of work!

Thanks TBMartin.

A major refurb for the Waltzers seems a bit.... pointless to me. Firstly, aren't they for sale? (You're never going to get that much for an old Waltzers, so spending money to make them more appealing probably won't help to make a profit), and secondly, they're not exactly popular at GYPB (being down the back of the park certainly doesn't help).

But, I'm saying all that, it's good to see them taking so much care of their rides. Are you seeing this PWH?! ;)

If I'm right in thinking they own all of their rides now. It's been years since the PB would have leased rides for the odd season.

Last year they got the 2 brand new rides from SBF Visa, then before that was the spinning coaster they bought for £300,000, then before that was the Sky Drop and Disk'O, again both brand new from Zamperla.

Does anyone else think that the interior of the Haunted Hotel could do with an upgrade? Looking at old POV's it has been pretty much untouched for over five years, when a few additional lighting and sound effects would make all the difference in improving it IMO.

Five? I think it's been untouched for about 15 years now, maybe more.

I was hoping they were going to spruce it up when they changed the exterior, but nothing.

Ah, I was only going by a POV of the ride uploaded around five years ago - but if it has been left for 15 years then I think it's definitely time for an upgrade!

I personally think they need to expand the park on that grassy car park area, and install a big coaster (big for GYPB), like a EuroFighter for example. That's the only way they can get people down that end.

Oh I actually drove past at the weekend, they've recently had a HUGE delivery of wood that's sitting down the top end.

That wood has been there a while now. There isn't much room, with no sign of the edge anytime soon could he use that land in the future ? I still say what ever it is will go next to log flume as it doesn't appear anything has gone although you can't quite see it all from road I know

All that wood wasn't there when I was there a couple of weeks ago. There was some, but no where near as much as there is now.

It's looking likely to be an actual ride, as the website says it's due to open at Easter.

However, I can't see it being as major as they're making out, as it's not on site yet and Easter is like 3 weeks away!

Just been announced. A big wheel is coming again. I'd imagine its going where the one in 2009 went. Hopefully this year it is included in the wristband price considering its gone up to £21.50 Peak this year...

It's hired again, no doubt from the same people. I doubt it'll be included with wristbands, unless they've learned their lesson from last time?

A giant wheel isn't a bad addition for GYPB, but we don't the just bloody buy one?

If you had to choose between GYPB or PWH having a Eurofighter, which would you prefer?

This one's only 100ft, I think the other one was bigger, and a lot newer. I remember it having a VIP pod.

It's not included in wristbands and will cost £5 to ride!

It won't be successful if it isn't included in wristbands. Also how can they justify the price increase?

The actual Big Wheel looks like a good addition but not including it in wristbands is a really poor decision from GYPB.

I would definitely want PWH to get a Eurofighter over pleasure beach. Where is the grass car park? We normally end up having to park at the train station.

I think it'd be cool if PWH got a Big Wheel.
