i was at Blackpool pleasure beach on sunday and i went on all the big rides and coasters however i thought two of the best rides were gold mine and river caves . each are heavily theamed Gold mine was a small track ride while river caves was a boat ride like tales of the coast. the point that im saying is these two rides werent incredably thrilling but they were so well themed that they were worth going on and i found them rather enjoyable.
I like the idea of an Intamin Surf Rider coaster for PWH. Something like this would suit the park well what with it's small footprint and default maritime theme. It looks like you get great airtime on that thing and it it goes fairly quick too!
^ Yes and no. For example Wipeout looks awsome with its own theme, and SNITG is ok too. But I like the whole Maritime theme, its unique.
And its not over the top either. The only thing that they've themed in the park is the Main Street and Woody's clothes.
Most of the rides just tend to fit in with the theme, like the Pirate Ship, Helter Skelter, Tales of the Coast, Sea Lion Show, Timber Falls.
However, ironically, most rides dont actually fit in with the maritime, yet they dont stick out either, like Enigma, Fireball, Thunderstruck, Circus Show, Miniature Railway, Annie Oakley Railway.
See, in general its just a normal, nice, well landscaped park, with a 'hint' of maritime about it.
An Intamin Halfpipe/Surfrider would be awsome at Pleasurewood. It would be unique to the UK too.

I think Main Street looks really classy and professional! I hope next season they give more theming to the park- didn't someone from the park say there was still more to be done on TF. Hopefully they will be adding some more themeing around there!
What I have been meaning to post for a while now is that I find it quite interesting that they say " the continued investment in the park is BEGINNING to show some results!". This sounds quite optimistic to me that there is still quite alot more planned for Pleasurewood in the future...
And lets not be to harsh guys on them, it has been quite a difficult year financial wise for everybody so you can't blame a small park for not adding a massive, major attraction just yet and of course there are loads of planning issues to consider. We don't know what they could be planning for years to come- I firmly believe that something major will come to the park in 2011.
Besides, in Josh's visit report he says " the park looks so much better than last year" yet not that much has really been done, I personally love the little things that parks do improve. Timber Falls looks excellent, and that was only a small investment- think of the things Pleasurewood could/ will do with a major one! Even tiny things like the new spraying fountain under the chairlift just make the park look better.
Next year if we only get some mechanical updates on Enigma then I will be fine with that, the ride will feel so much better and the queue line will go down dramatically. They possible may add some themeing in, which would be fantastic.
It will be good to see what they do with regards to the castle- new lighting and seats would be excellent and we really don't know know how expensive this sort of stuff really is do we?
So I think we should stop knocking the park for not really doing anything when actually for a small park in the middle of a financial crisis they have actually done pretty well.

The thing is though, you have to continue to invest in any business, so they have to invest more anyway. They said when they purchased the park they wanted to change the image of it, and they have done that. It is better than when they first bought it.
The park now has top quality food outlets serving top quality food, a fantastic new website and marketing design, and just in general a better feel to it. Its much more like a proper theme park nowadays, instead of the fair ground it used to be.

But Pleasurewood, like most small parks, had a fantastic year last year. Yet all them extra people that visited last year, dont have a reason to come back.
Yes it is good that they are keeping on top of things so the park doesn't become run down, but that isn't going to bring in the guests, is it? I'm 25, and last year was the first year for as long as I can remember that I didn't visit Pleasurewood, and I wasn't fussed at all. I had no desire at all to go there last year, and I still dont this year, though hopefully I will.
If they just got a small thrill ride that would bring back the customers then they would have more money and then get one more ride....more money ect. So one small investment would bring the park to life
Something for all the family to enjoy, thats what Pleasurewood don't have and need really. A rapids ride/ small coaster would work wonders- particularly in the area where SING is!
sounds good andy, i'll try and squeash some information out of my cousin who works there.
You kept that one quiet. Going detective could be a good idea...
Such a shame that nothing seems to be going on down Enigma, although saying that they did close it for "essential mantience" back in October so perhaps they actually started it early?
Hmm- wonder what they are doing down by SING? That is the area that needs the most attention...
Does it seem to anyone else that they seem to redoing little chunks of areas as the years go by. The whole Timber Falls area apparently looks very different and oozes life and they did Main Street Up and of course the area around Wipeout....
Perhaps this year they are doing some stuff down SING area. And don't forget there is still more to be done by TF and they revampiing areas near/ inside the Castle and the playground.
A large skip/container around the rattlesnake however.
Hopefully they were putting the 'Dodgy Dodgems' in there
That area is pathetic compared to the rest of the park. If they spruced that area up a bit, we may all feel a bit better about the whole park in general.

What do you think will happen there/ want to happen there?
Altgough its great that they re-doing areas its still not a new ride is it.
I have a sugesstion i think Oskar will agree. ther is a small park in denmark called farup sommerland. i went there 5 years ago. when i went it was a family park which had a wooden coaster, madgic mouse , runaway mine train, log flume and rapids the park back then was very similar to pwh since then i have not been back however i know they installed a lim launched coaster called lynet this has transformed the park into a thrill park rather than a family one i think pwh still has this rather family friendly feel even though there is wipeout. so i think one more big coaster could turn pwh from a small family park to a medium thrill park. i know we have descussed a new roller coaster many a time but i wanted to put something into a recent situation.

Yeah farup sommerland often changes rides to keep the customers coming like a water bowl slide or others aswell as the little theming and revamping things...it really keeps people coming we went twice last year because of lynet and the water park changes but there should definatly not be a water park at pwh it would be freezing but the ride that could be added don't cost much and would improve the park massivly
I think the problem with pwh is that it has a very tacky image.
Here is a list of things which could help it become more proffesonal
replace fairground rides- there are still quite a lot of travaling rides name change- this is not such a big problem but when you hear the name of a park if you can hear the word "plesure" it sounds very tacky New leaflet- although i am impressed by the recent leaflets they still dont have a proffesianal feel towards them i think a darker background colour could help. (I have a feeling martyn is not going to be happy about this as he loves the new leaflet(i do aswell but there still are some minor improvements))
Obviously the one we all complain about. USE UP THE SPACE- pwh has tonnes of empty space yet its not using them.
I do realise pwh recently have mad a lot of changes to help them replace the tacky image but i think there is still a lot of work to be done.
good points that the park has done
mellow yellow retheme park tidy up main street entrance leaflet/map
i know a lot of people will disagree with what i put so feel free to adress as much anger towards me as you think is neccasary.
ps I love the new leflet/map but i think even martyn will agree some minor improvements still need to be done.
I couldn't agree more actually a quick thought is that pwh could be trying to slowly move away from the family image to a slightly less tacky image of course this is a very gradual change or if we carry on at thisrate a very very gradual change ways to continue this trend could be the retheming of snake in the grass to somthing more exciting and maybe a way to speed it up on those slow uphill buts(when your at the back) or getting rid of a very kiddie ride likethe helter skelter of course that change will only happen if pwh wants to completely abolish the family feel which will not happen for a long time I think
