RE: Enigma Refit...

Just to let you know guys that we should know what's happening with Enigma later on this season. I recently emailed a park representative who said that they "could not confirm Enigma's future" but said that we should know more later on this year.

Could this be Enigma's last season?

Oh right. So what did you ask them?

I'd be sad to see it go for sentimental reasons, but thats it. Ride wise its ok, better than most other compact coasters the same size (Pinfari).

Just as long as it gets replaced with something good (EuroFigher), then I'm happy.

Though like I've said before, they shouldn't be replacing rides, they should be addiding new ones to the current line up! There just isn't enough to do at Pleasurewood.

I just asked if they could shed some light on Enigma as nothing had happened as per speculation last season.

I would assume that an overhaul was probably an idea on the table last season but they obviously decided against it. I would also assume that the costs of an overhaul and continued maintenance might outweigh the costs of bringing in a brand new/new attraction that would in turn increase attendance.

We all know that Enigma is a one off model and for this reason it must be quite expensive to maintain. It must be getting to the point where it is becoming harder to get spare parts which is why the are continuing with one train operation to preserve parts and decrease the extra wear that running two trains would cause. Who knows?

Anyhow, I would therefore maybe speculate that they are planning on removing this ride after this season. I also have fond memories of it when I was younger and it was the Cannonball Express but as you say that's it. I would welcome it's removal to make way for progress within the park.

Enigma is abit of a legend at Pleasurewood Hills. I will be sad to see it go. However if by it being removed we get a exciting, well themed ride ( which shouldn't be a problem looking at Timber Falls and Wipeout) then I think it could be really good.

I think it's good to see the management are seeing what the park weak points are and remedying them. I remember all of our trip reports have sad how worn Enigma is or how it lacks atmosphere or how the queue is painfully slow...

Personally I take this as good news.

Well that and the fact that Schwartzkopf went under how many years ago? They would have to get parts specifically made from another manufacturer, which I'd imagine would cost a bit.

It wouldn't be the same turning into the car park and not seeing the coaster crammed into the crater!

Personally I dont think what the park has said means its the end of the road for Engima. You never know, they may have something massive planned for it for next year, but dont want to say anything.

It could honestly mean anything. However the fact that the revamp last year never took place, doesn't bide well really.

I completely agree.  What he said was rather ambiguous but there has to be something planned for next season and if it does involve a new ride then Enigma might well be on it's way out.

Interesting- hopefully this means it will be getting a major refurb instead some time in the future...

Good to see the new manager can see that Enigma is a unique ride that is very special to alot of people who have grown up with Pleasurewood...

Reece, oh dear! Bless your heart! I wouldn't always believe what you're told! Sounds a bit silly to me, to say its going to stay for ever!

And the people who answer the phone might not no what go's on behind the scene's.

Enigma maybe unique, but only us goons can see that. Its not unique in any good way really.

LOL, I've been thinking the same quite a lot recently!

i wud be slightly upset if enigma went. but i would be good if the ride was removed and they put a thrill coaster in the creator and then a few years later the get a new coaster for famielies

Hey! Got the latest news that Enigma is not being re-located...it's staying right where it is...

The whole place is receiving a lick of paint, it's looking really smart. :)

I think Lovethehills (who I suspect is affiliated with the park somehow) means the park is getting a fresh lick of paint which we already knew of course.

Unless they do mean this in which case a name change and retheme please! :)
