As a starting point of discussion, I was thinking of the 'new' log flume. I'm really hoping that we can get a decent re-theme and a possible location change.
The current 'theme', if you want to call it that is just dire
I'm really keen to see what they manage to do with the ride... The retheme of Aladdin to Tales of the Coast was a huge let down in my opinion, but the look of Wipeout has worked a treat.
One other small thing I did notice on my flying visit to the park recently was that the "Woody Copters" had been moved to the area near Wipeout and the parrot building, not sure if this is just a temporary thing or if that will be its new home? Can't think why they would want or need to move it from where it was really!?

So am I.
At first I kept thinking that they may actually remove it, as I didnt' see the reason to take it apart and place it in the car park. But obviously I was wrong to think that, as that new picture goes to show.
Like I have said on URC, they done a real good job with Wipeout, and with the general clean up of the park when they took charge, so I really look forward to see what they do with the Flume.

See I really hope it doesn't get re-located. Again, like I've said before, I think theres a perfect balance of attractions in that area of the park and the Log Flume fits there a treat.

I would really like to see a large, tradtional Waveswinger in that area opposite Wipeout, it is in need of a good family attraction, to give eveyone else something to do whilst the dare devils ride Wipeout.
So I can see why they've decided to move the Woodycopter there. And lets face it, some of them rides do just look like they've been 'plonked' in the 'Market Square' area, especially the Helter Skelter.
I was only passing through Lowestoft, so it was all a bit rushed. If you do manage to pop over there with a camera, i'd love to get some better shots onto the site!
This is exciting stuff! I think the idea of a location change could be good for the park. I just think the bottom of the park near the SITG is so dull that the log flume could brighten it up down there. Whatever they do I hope it is worthwhile.
I personally don't mind TOTC retheme. The outside theming is really good although it is a shame in the queueline when you get behind the façade it's just black paint and pretty boring. Some nice barrels and rope stacked up would have been a nice touch. Have they removed the 3D element of it? When I went last year we weren't given and 3D glasses and I don't think the sign telling you to put them on was there any more?
Has anyone thought that they might be extending it? I know it might seem a little farfetched, but the could be adding another drop or two, as well as a re-theme.
That actually crossed my mind too Leon. I dunno how feasible it is though with it being an off the shelf model? Great if they were though! I am looking forward to seeing how this turns out!
It would be kind of pointless extending it, but, take a closer look at that new picture on the home page...!
If you look close enough, you'll notice that there appears to be new troughs, well they looknew anyway, as they're a plain metal colour.....

I'd really like to see one of them mini Rapids rides placed down there, where the Dinosaur walk through used to be. A nice themed one of them like the ones at WMSP would fit down there a treat IMO, but I'll explain more of that in this other topic I'm going to start.
Grrr, was hoping for that picture to come out a little bigger!

I would have thought extension work wouldn't be too difficult, even though this is an old Reverchon model. I think they will be most likely replacing the top round-section on the final drop as it was very worn in recent years. let's hope it turns out to be something much better than the current state!
Yeah you could be right. Oh well we'll find out soon - I would hope they aim to have it ready by April.
I would have thought they'd have to get it done by opening, as no doubt theres parts of it spread out over path ways in the park itself, as well as the car park.
Which then makes me think that if they get behind schedule or anything like that, they may rush to get it done, which wouldn't be good news.
Bare in mind that opening is only just over 2 weeks away, I cant see there being much themeing to this. It'll probably just be a re-paint and they needed to dismantle it to replace worn parts etc.? Just a theory.
If them pictures were taken in December, then yeah. there could well have been a nice theme added, but surely its too soon to opening to do something spectacular?

Now that you mention it I think you are right in saying that a couple of weeks isn't really enough time for anything major. It'll be a shame really that we havn't seen anything major this year but I would hope that means some major investment for next year.
Even if it is nothing major I am glad it is at least getting a name change! I mean Mellow Yellow has no relevance to the nature of the ride at all. It was quite an odd choice really!
If you are that fussed, just ring the park, ask to speak to Denise, though she normally answers the phone anyway. She's realyl nice and she'd be more than happy to help you.
We'll find out in a matter of days anyway. (That is if they plan to open it on opening day, I would hope so).
Another thing have been checking on is the official PH website. There has been a banner on it for a while saying "look out for new website". Hopefully that'll prop up in the next few days before opening and will have details of Timber Falls. I must say the current website is seriously outdated with the Wipeout competition still on the Wipeout page even though it ended back in September. Also there concept art for Wipeout is still on there with no real photos of the ride.
You have to look at this from the positive point of view:
- We all hated the name
- It looked ugly with its horrilbe yellow colour
- At least we'll have something different at the park for this year, I'd rather this happen than another year of nothing.
- And at the end of the day, an old ride is getting a nice new re-vamp and hopefully given a good theme.
I no its nothing to wet your pants about (Jools may say otherwise...:D), but if we're going to have a year without any new rides, its good to see that they are making the effort to tidy up the 'tatty' rides they currently have.

I agree there Martyn. It will be better than it's current state and it's adding to the overall image of the park. Even if it is a little change it's better than nothing at all - I hope they continue to spruce up areas of the park year on year.
Right, after seeing the new brochure for this year, this is what I believe is going on:
They have just used the standard picture for it in the brochure, just a log with a couple in it, going down the big drop, and it just says Timber Falls next to it, with the same ride desription as before "A white water, white knuckle ride, guaranteed to make a splash".
So main thing you notice is that they're not plugging it as new ride, which leads me to believe that it needed work done to it, ie section of it replaced etc:
Its very old, and you can see what looks to be new parts for it in one of them pictures on the front page.
So I reckon it needed some major maintenance work done, and they just thought we'll spruce it up as its been taken apart.
It makes sense, though I am now a little disapointed. At least if they were going to plug it as a new ride, we'd no it would have to look drastically different for them to do that.
But they're not, so I guess it'll just a new coat of paint nad have lots of wood everywhere. At least it will look better though.
(Look at how good all the use of wood was with Wipeout's station, that looks fab!)
(And they could be using up left over wood from Wipeout's station?!)
