What a visit!

can you believe a ride on the chairlift now takes 45 minutes end to end? i was told the management want every chair full, so to do this safely with two operators they have to turn the speed down!

my daughter was cold and stressed by the time she made it to the other end. It wasn’t raining when she got on in the morning, but it started 20 minutes into her journey.

people getting off were warning others in the queue not to get on as they very slowly made it back to the ground lol.

I’ve added some photos of the mains plug sockets that were all out in the pooring rain. I shall be reporting that to the local authorities as it is very dangerous.

the little red drive on bike at woodys driving school is still not working. I haven’t seen it work all season, and yet there it sits collecting peoples money.

The air hockey next to rootin is also broken. It ate my £1, with no game.

I try so hard to like this park, but standards continue to fall, and now it seems Heath and Safety is being overlooked too.

The park is clearly not being managed properly or with any sanity. Look the money spent on the castle. Is it available to day guests? No. How is that going to make people want to come back, to fuel more investment?

the biggest joke is the New Ride shown in all the 2018 flyers. Errrm, didn’t that open last season? Lol.

such a shame to see it running into the ground.

Im sure all of those sockets will be protected by 30mA rcd's and whilst theyve seemingly been chucked in unproffesionally they may be temporary (hopefully) they are in no way dangerous to the public.

All other points are valid.

That multi plug block in the first pic should not be being used outdoors and won’t be rated for high loads.

Yea shouldnt be used outside, but if it gets wet it will just trip the rcd so not good at all but most cirtainly not "dangerous".  It will be rated for 13A.... Which will not be exceeded with whats plugged in to it either.

Also did you report the issues to pwh while on site?

I was thinking the other day about slowing the chairlift down so much could mean double loading.... however it cancels itself out as the ride is now incredibly slow, so it's probably no different.

I think I'd rather they just ran it at normal speed and had 2 staff off peak and 4 during the summer months.

The manager told me the amusements are subcontracted out to Leasure Line, so was their problem. He said he would report it urgently.
RCD’s can “help” prevent electric shock. You can’t just use wet electrics and assume the fail safe will function. That’s why any reputable sparky will use properly rated IPC connections etc.

It is the most basic of common sense in my mind, and if they don’t show this sense in public areas, what’s it like behind the scenes?

I shall take my hairdryer out onto my lilo in the pool with my children. It’s fine, I’m protected by my RCD. In that context, I’m sure you would not take the risk.. common sense at work.

I’ve filed a HSE report, so hopefully they will deal with it and a review and retraining can take place PDQ. The manager didn’t comment on the water fountain photo, which is why I have reported it. I doubt that is outsourced.

My friend is an engineer for UK Power Networks. From the photo at the lake, he believes that he is seeing armourflex cable stripped back and wired onto a plug, which in his opinion is ringing major alarm bells of poor practice, let alone the whole thing being soaked with water and live. You can’t just assume it’s on an RCD.

I’m not out to make trouble, I have loved and visited the park ever since it opened. I want them to do well.
For me as a cursed engineer to keep visiting, I have to feel 100% safe. I wasn’t feeling that yesterday.
Let’s hope when I go next week that it’s all sorted out.
😊

Uk power networks engineers are not electricians... Just saying. But yes its poor the way its been slung in like that, but you can assume its protected by an rcd because the electrics would all be periodically inspected and tested by qualified persons and, a socket circuit with no rcd would be flagged a C2 - potentially dangerous, if they were not.

I wouldn't miss the chair lift of it was pulled down. The park wouldn't either.

For What its worth (as an ex supervisor for the rides at PWH) there must be something wrong with the chairlift, motor on its way out??? , it never used to run that slow, on quiet days 2 staff man the ride doing every other chair so they have time to unload a chair one side then load a chair the other side, busier days started of with 2 staff then come lunch time an additional 2 junior staff was added to man the unload side at each end, the speed was never changed so the ride took approx 5 mins from one end to the other, adding additional staff meant that every chair could be used so no ques built up
Bu thinking about it now if every chair is being used with only 2 operators then that is why the speed is set on slow as when its on normal speed and you are loading a chair there is a chair coming down the other side (normally with 2 ops this would be empty) but if its on slow speed then the op has time to load one chair then get over to the other side to unload the chair then back to the other side to load the chair, its all down to minimizing staff and wages, so unless they go to every other chair with just 2 staff then it will remain dead slow as you need to monitor people getting off (especially elderly and disabled, adults with small children) and be ready to hit the E stop if needed, Unfortunately sometimes they put saving money over the public's general experience of the park, again one of the reasons Hob's Pitts demise, when Hob's Pit opened i and 5 others was trained as scare actors/ operators for the ride, so the first season was good as there was more actors in there, But on quiet days say 500 in park then you still have 5 actors to pay who are basically doing nothing as there are only a few people going on the ride, but in the public's eye the ride should give the same experience weather there is 300, 500,1000+ people in the park, 2nd and 3rd season of Hobs eventually resulted in the ride not opening till 12 so when it opened the ride then was more or less busy till the close of park, but even then the cost of staffing a scare ride compared to 1 staff to run rootin tootin must of been to much. Hobs was a great ride to operate/supervise, but i think it may have been more successful in a bigger busier park, where most of the overheads are covered with the amount of people visiting each day :)

Well Hobs time line went exactly how i predicted it would go the day it was opened, even it's life span. It's a pity it could have been altered so no actors were needed to make a decent ride. instead of this nice looking but a bit boring target trail.

couldn't they put the chair lift back on normal mode but remove 25% of the chairs? that should give the OP enough time to load up and unload a chair?

Annoyingly, the chairlift is being really slow, but they're still only loading every other seat.
