RE: Replacement for Tales of the Coast - 2016

Nope. but this is part of a re-vamp project for that part of the park which they claimed started with Hyper-Drive, so while a new ride will be open this year the overall project probably wouldn't be completed, they may continue to develop the aria the following year.

I wonder of Woody's flying school going to remain put?

After looking at them aerial shots taken a couple of years go, you can see just how much room TotC took up!

Enough room for a small Wooden coaster one might say? ;)

Omg could you imagine?!

Yes they would then be forgiven for demolishing TotC.

Maybe, but they would be better off replacing the rubber boat side with on instead.
I can't imagine a 5th coaster at the part, unless it was one of those mini kids size ones (which they should have got instead of that hideous pony trail)

A waveswinger!? Seriously, PWH need some serious help if that is the case. They have replaced a permanent infrastructure with another fairground ride. Backwards steps IMO! Unless this is in addition to TOTC replacement.

Don't that already have one of these, next to the safari ride?
Well, may as well double up again i guess, maybe next year we'll get a second set of flying elephants.

I liked the old waveswinger they had and i don't think it's terrible addition but to remove TOTC for one seems really stupid, they can have one and put it in one of the many other empty plots instead. But maybe we're jumping the gun a little.

If TOTC remains in some form or another as well as this new ride then id be quite happy.

Oh FFS, please no. If this is what they've replaced TOTC with then god help us.

The old chair swings had the chains off for quite a while at the end of 2015 so this might explain why.

Maybe they old one will be removed permanently, replaced with Woody's flying school which is replaced with a new waveswinger ?

It looks really old too...

So they've potentially removed a dark ride for an old style ride, that they already have....

2012-14 possibly saw the best additions the park has ever seen, and they follow that up with Hyper Drive and this?

Starting to lose all hope now.

They better have improved some of the other rides a bit. If this is the only addition I'll be very dissapointed.

All started to go a bit odd when they changed managers.
Maybe they just haven't got any money to spend due to the previous years huge investment? (mm, hobs, other)
If that's the case then fair enough.

Plus we don't know what else has been going on (if anything) Might be surprised and find a finished Rattlesnake tunnel, and Enigma cars ;)

EDIT.

It's possible this isn't a TOTC replacement, maybe it;s just a new ride for this year and has nothing to do with the TOTC re-development which wont be finished till next year ?

i tend to agree Bubbles. If they have limited funds then a significant investment is unlikely. However, the park chose (I presume) Hyper Drivel, which is money they could have put into anything else - a needless investment. I'd have rather seen that £75,000 invested in ripping up some of the mismatch Tarmac and putting down some brick paving on Main Street. But that's just me.

I'm hoping this Waveswinger is, as you say, a replacement for the old kiddy one, and still TOTC gets something else. Would make sense.

But what is in the parks control is their marketing. The recent advert in the paper in the other topic pictures a 21 year old park addition - why not Marble Madness, Wipeout or Hobs Pit - it's crazy in my opinion.

Everything just seems odd lately.

Marketing is a bit stale... The same visual style for a few years now and the same sort of images used again and again.

What is seemingly odd is that the park has supposedly had a few good seasons of attendance which should in theory help the parent company to continue what had been a few years of very positive investment. Instead we appear to be going back to the old days of minimal investment and poor decisions on what to spend the limited funds on. I know the group isn't exactly a huge player in the theme park business but surely they own enough to spend a little bit more?

What is concerning is that perhaps the recent positives in terms of attendance are actually causing the parent company to release less funds - as the park is going along nicely without needing much expenditure.

Though perhaps this is all musings for a different topic. Please say it isn't a damn waveswinger though... If they were going to install something like that at least make it a huge WindSeeker style one lol.

Exactly the point. If they've had good attendance numbers, why the hell would they go and put in a crappy dodgems and then a wave swinger? Oh, and if your going to put in a dodgems then wouldn't it be self explanatory to make sure it runs on more than half of the cars for the whole season? Just save the money and buy a proper flat ride.

Then again, we might go back and find the Europa park of the UK....

I don't mind seeing Enigma on promo material, most kids wouldn't know how old it is or how long it been at the park, and it's nice to remind people about some of the classics the park still have which are still great fun.
But i think there needs to be more variation.

I still don't mind a new Waveswinger, they're an alright filler and fit the park nicely but it that's all they're doing it's very poor. As least it's better than HyperDrive which should have never happened, this does have a bit more logic behind it.

We'll have to wait and see what happens.
I can't really see them removing the kiddie version.

With all theses old banngers retuning to the park can i go back to wishing for the Enterprise to return :D
or the Roller. lol Oh i forgot, current policy is to double up, it'll be a adults Tea cup ride next year.

But it has no logic behind it if they're keeping the other one....

Nothing wrong with having a large Waveswinger, just not when you already have a medium sized one (if It is a replacement, they shouldn't really be advertising it as new), and not to replace a dark ride.

This is just sooooo frustrating. Save the money from the Hyper Drive debacle, and the expensive demolition of TotC (largest can we've ever seen....) and spend that on fixing up Enigma, or finishing the theming for Rattlesnake, or make Jolly Roger look more appealing?

Coincidence that all the social media stopped, and the poor investment started at same time?

I've figured out exactly what will replace TOTC, and it's so obvious you guys will be kicking yourselves for not figuring it out sooner... They're going to replace it with a second set of go-karts!

doesnt matter what my opinion is - i am pleased that something is coming in rather than the years of picnic benches

Matty there could be mileage in your thoughts there - there is also mileage in the unconfirmed swinger will replace the old wooden one and the former totc site willl be something else

Would be interesting if it is another wave swinger or a replacement for the current one, Doing a quick internet search I found this

www.usedrideseurope.com/ridesforsale/wave-swinger/

Been sold and the pattern on the centre panel would match the pic which they posted

Of course your opinion matters coolskin, this is a message board after all. It's upto us to decided whether your opinion is valid though ;)

I just don't agree with opinions that are swayed for certain reasons. There wouldn't be a need for message boards with all agreed with everything, and the world would be a rather boring place.

In all seriousness though, you were fairly vocal with your negativity when Alexis Camlin was in charge, yet since the new management has been in power, things have slowly started to go down hill, yet everything they do is perfect in your eyes?

We even have a PWH employees in that Facebook group I started, he's been there a long while now and even says things are going down hill with the new management.

When the new manager was announced i voiced my concern that he didn't come across as that enthusiastic and that the park would just plod along for a bit, it feels like that's been happening.

Big investments, rides aren't everything and not expected every year but it's how they spend that limited funds, and general attitude.

Id hate to see a second Go kart track, i hate the fact PWH currently has one, it takes up so much space a cool coaster could to there instead. Unless they're moving the Go karts that this exact reason.

Could be, and it's look so much bigger than the old one PWH use to have.

I'm starting to wonder if this will be on the Flying School plot and that will replace the mini waveswinger which might be moved or removed.  There was plans to move the Flying School to the kiddie zone at some point.

TOTC development is probably unrelated to this ride, and as coolskin kinda hinted at a project that might not be complete till next year.   The possibility of it becoming a new go kart track, could mean the old one was pulled up and something big in it's place??

if this is the case id be quite supportive.

Even if the Go Kart Track went from that area, would PWH have the money to buy a new big coaster for that area?
