I planned to go to the park for the last summer opening day but we ended up going a few days after in the end. Anyway, arrived at the park just before 10. As soon as the gates opened I went straight for enigma to avoid queuing and then to MM, (timber falls closed all day) which was walk on so I went round twice. We then went to wipeout (I don't know if it's just me) but it's become unbarebley rough. Last year I could happily sit on it 10 times in a row, but now I can only do it twice before I get a headache. After recovering a bit it was then time for a couple of rides on JR and the pirate ship before going down to fireball to be told it would be down all day. We went on Rattlesnake instead. It then started to rain and we had the idea to go on hobs pit, but unfortunately everyone else had the same idea (despite the weather it was actually quite busy).
After taking refuge in the arcade we headed for wave breaker (which runs much faster in the rain) and moved across to try hyperdrive. For a relatively short queue, we waited 20 minutes. We had a go on the chairswings and the Safari cars re-theme and then went on both trains. For the last rides it was wipeout again and a few times on TTT (mixed cycles).
Despite the weather, it was actually a very busy day. What surprised me is that having only one of PW's main thrill rides down leaves such a big hole in the lineup that I only stayed until 3 when I usually stay for the whole day.

Yep, the queue wasn't even full and we waited 20 minutes. And I meant rattlesnake. Oops.
Martyn, as I said before I actually managed to get myself bored and went home earlier than usual. I guess fireball is one of the rides I spend the most time on. I'm not sure what was up with timber falls but there wasn't any water in the trough so I guess it was somthing to do with the rain because the grass area was very muddy so it might have flooded? On fireball we could see maintenence playing about with the lights that show the restraint locking. I think KMG is cursed for me because both times iv'e been to thorpe this year vortex was shut as well!

When I went in August, Fireball had issues locking in place on certain restraints meaning they weren't being used, And Timer Falls had a rather bad leak near the station so maybe they drained it and were fixing it?
That would explain why the grass was wet then. What I find strange is that when we went around the same time last year (including once at the end of August) fireball was was shut then as well. I don't know if it was for the same reason though, so it might just be a coincidence.
