Please ask about the "enigma" that is Hyper Drive and the thinking behind the addition. I echo the other guy's questions regarding the other rides and the theatre.
Are you planning on sprucing up the themeing around the park (Re-painting the coasters and wipeout's theming), is there going to be another major attraction in the next few years and what is planned with tales of the coast?

Yes the fireworks on a Saturday not last day Matt ? Fireball and its random stuff ! To be fair cant think of much, maybe see if we can ever get pirate ship back to strength !! haha and yeh enigma
Also, are there plans to implement perks for season passes like food discounts or fastpass, and I don't want to be negative here but what was the parks thinking behind hyperdrive? They've put in brilliant investments like MM, hobs pit and JR over the past few years and hyperdrive just doesn't live up to them. If it is going to be a permanent attraction, will all of the cars be put on to get the throughput up?
Has the Alton Towers incident affected the general public's attitude towards theme parks? Are they feeling any affect of this when rides run into problems?
If you had the budget, what would be the areas you're most interested in improving or re-theming at the park?
I would imaging Alton incident would benefit the smaller parks as guests may decided to go elsewhere, but I guess that's a statistic we'll never really know.

In regards to late openings, would it be possible to keep some of the rides open for PWC in the future while all of the scare attractions open? It would be good to see because I had a ride on fireball at PWC last year in the semi dark and it was one of the best rides on a flat i've ever had. It might attract more enthusiasts because of the night rides and if you had a season pass you could do all of the scare attractions one night then go again the next to get some night rides.
As promised, I have now visited Pleasurewood Hills and posed as many of your questions as I could to the team. General Manager Liam Holmes and Designer Dan Hanton were kind enough to give up part of their day to speak with me. It was clear from our conversations, that the pair are both passionate and realistic about the future of the park. They also had a lot of praise for other members of the team, some of whom have been at the park for many years.
On arrival, I was weirdly pleased that it was difficult to find a parking space! The car park was more full than I've seen it on visits in previous years, which was a great sign.
As you pass through the main entrance, you are now greeted by a brightly painted van, which you may recognise from past seasons! It adds a much needed splash of colour to what was an empty space since the relocation of the Carousel. (See photo below)
With regards to an Enigma refurb, the team inform me that a large amount of work has/does go on with the ride. However, much of it is of a technical nature and is largely invisible to the public. In the longer term, the park have plans to refurbish the ride and reinstate the Cannonball Express name and theme.
During my visit, I took a wander over to the Castle Theatre. As we know, the front section is being used for meet and greets with the costume characters. The area has been nicely themed with a bookcase, dining table and fireplace, giving a similar feel to a visit to Santa's Grotto. Beyond this area, the main theatre is currently being used as storage. However, the theatre seats and stage are still present, and the park hope to bring the building back into use in the near future. Dan told me about a nugget of an idea involving "muppet" style characters which could be a possibility for the future. I'm also told that this is likely to be the final year for the High Dive Show, as the French owners like to see something new every couple of seasons.
Laser Labyrinth is now closed for the rest of this season and may not return. The attraction was actually offered free of charge for the first few months of this season, but didn't attract a great number of guests. The park have some interesting ideas for what might go here in future, but no firm decisions yet.
This year's new addition, Hyper Drive, was next on the agenda. The decision to purchase this attraction was made by the French owners of the park. It was always considered to be a "filler" attraction by all parties, rather than a major selling point, like Marble Madness or Hobs Pit. There are no plans to remove the old Dodgems.
We also discussed Halloween... The park will once again offer a "Scream Pass" over 4 days. Limiting the number of days these are available apparently worked well last year, and ensured enough people upgraded to pay for the live actors. The park will offer at least 3 scare attractions including Hobs Pit XScream and the use of the old train carriage.
The Tales of the Coast refurb we were told about it still very much on the cards. One idea is to remove the indoor section entirely and create a pirate themed boat ride with "cartoon" pirate characters. If this happens, covers will be added to the boats to stop people getting soaked on a rainy day. I saw some mock-ups which featured canons, water features and a striking stone-effect entrance.
With regards to Tide Traveller, the park are still optimistic that the ride will be fully working... eventually!
There are also ideas floating around regarding the Pony Trek ride. I saw some interesting designs which would see a Cowboy Theme added to the ride.
In other good news, I am reliably informed that a refurbishment of the Rattlesnake station and tunnel is due in the near future. The current metal tunnel was a thing of necessity and wasn't intended to remain long term.
Finally, we touched on 2016. Unfortunately, I came away empty handed! I'm told that nothing has been decided yet, but budgets will be agreed in November. Fingers crossed for a few hints after then!
Overall, I think the park is continuing to move in the right direction. Liam and Dan firmly believe that the family market is their main target, as opposed to teenage groups. I came away with a sense that the team are well aware of the weak areas around the park, and with a bit of time and investment, I expect these things will be dealt with.
This is great read up Matt. I am also glad that some of this stuff has been written up here by yourself. I did know a lot of it yet its good to hear its all continuing in the right way.
Excellent, I am also pleased that you too found that Liam especially has so much passion for the park - there is no-one else who cares more for the park that I assure you. Dan is also a good guy too

So can I buy them a B & M? I haven't checked my numbers yet but I'm feeling very confident!
In all seriousness it's really great to hear about the plans for the park and very reassuring to hear that the park are fully aware of what needs to be done (not that I had any doubts!).
It will be great to see the improvements and I like the idea of a Pirate theme, could be effective even if it sounds unoriginal sometimes the simple but well implemented themes are the best.
It's good that they took some of their time to answer some questions.
Knowing that they plan to refurb enigma and rattlesnake is nice to have in the back of my mind. Glad to hear that we might not have to put up with hyperdrive forever as well. I wouldn't like a roofless TOTC either, the whole atmosphere the ride has comes from the dark.

To be fair, we haven't really learnt much new, have we? We've heard many times before about; Rattlensnake tunnel being sorted, Enigma refurb, Thunderstruck being fixed and TotC refurb.
The whole thing with Enigma is.... just that, an Enigma. Years ago Lawrence said about all the technical stuff being fixed, they surely can't still be doing that? It's got to the stage now where the coaster is possibly the most run down ride in the park. Why don't they just close it now and have one refurb getting everything done?
And I don't like the idea of removing the tunnel on TotC. There are already 2 other slow moving outdoor rides (Ponies and Safari), we don't need a third. Dark/indoor rides are a delicacy at theme parks, they should be cherished, not removed!
Connor I think by filler attraction he means it's a ride to work as a way to add more attractions but not intended to be a major attraction. I think it is permanent.
Martyn, by removing the indoor section they would be opening up that area as you walk up to the ride and create a great view through to the log flume and marble madness. It could look really great I think.

I'm in two minds about the removal of the indoor section of Tales of the Coast. The view from the main entrance is of a rather uninspiring green building. Once the indoor section is removed, the view would be much more striking. The mock-up's looked great too, and I liked the idea of water spurts and cannon sounds going off as you make your way around.
However, I can see your point of view, Martyn. The indoor section does offer a bit of variety and something different from the norm... Perhaps a different/shorter indoor section could be an option? Maybe a visit to a rowdy pub frequented by pirates could form part of the storyline?
But it doesn't have to be a horrid looking green building from the outside, it could be themed and made to look exciting, so it becomes part of the landscape than the back of a tunnel.
