Merrivale Model Village - Gr Yarmouth

I visited the model village in Yarmouth this weekend for the first time since my childhood (mid to late 90s was my last visit there), very pleased to find that it not only still exists, but has been modified with new additions, and well-maintained with some of my favourite scenes still existing (namely, the burning house and fire brigade scene!).

Was anyone else a fan of this very British attraction? (love the British humour of a streaker at the football game, a rugby player having his shorts pulled down, etc.). And does anyone have any old photos of the previous displays?

Racking my brain to remember what else used to be there in place of the new air ship, Majesty's theatre, etc.

The model village is one I have never visited, I fear I might step on something.
But I use to know a bloke who's brother (I think) painted the little houses.

Haha, there'd be no fear of that, it's set in a beautiful, paved, landscaped garden. The walls and plants are even incorporated into the scenes. And there's a miniature fairground with moving rides (what's not to love?!).

I miss the model fairground at PWH, that was so cool.

There was a model fairground? When? (I have no memory of this!)

Oh yeah long time ago, next to the main square opposite the tea shops.

It was a fab indoor model fairground all lit up and was a gem. It use to live next door to hobs pit ( the door is still there ) it went early to mid 90s and in the 95 season a new attraction called bowlingo opened up in its former home.

Would love to know what happened to the original models etc. from rememberance I am sure that it was a local guy who looked after them all and they were his models too

I don't remember either of these! I'd have loved the mini park! ...After one summer break in Yarmouth (maybe when I was about 7?) I went home and built a model theme park in my parents conservatory. And they let me keep it there for about 3 months...  tongue

Would have been over the moon if I'd have seen an actual PWH one!
