Hi guys, visited today taking advantage of the £3pp saving for a fixed date online booking which i booked just before we left, defo worth it! And i think a steal at £16 .50each. Also got return for £14.50 vouchers on the gate too which is great :)
Anyway... the day... weather started off poooooooor but we arrived to half full car park at 11.30:) predominantly families with littleuns not many over 13 I'd say.
So 1st up TOTC, 3 boats on but got us out of the rain, no change except now the old sea creatures from the old crazy golf have randomly been scattered around the grassy area at the start?? Whyy i do not know, so i think weel say no more.... next onto the whale thing with my littleun, all good, nice ride, the pirate ship also has a new que lane which is nice, all looking good so far... then... im sorry... but the monstrous thing that is hyper drive. What a f****n mess! Theyve painted the train but why not weigh it in for scrap i do not know as its got so much rust painted over it looks ridiculous. Theyve made a permanent job of the power supplies to hyper drive though with a little brick submain room so im worried it may be here to stay :( the cars... which only 5 were working were slow and look so dated. The wooden platform along the back hasnt even been painted and is just peeeeeeeling paint. They closed it once trying to repair a car, and another failed dueing our ride. The orange canopy is faded and ripped, just NO PWH/LOOPING WHAT WHERE YOU THINKING!!!!! Its a bloody mess.
Now im not getting all negative chaps. Because this was by far the best day at pwh in years so i shall continue ;) . Park was bustling but not busy with ques, the weather 1pm ish came out lovely and the park soon dried out, marble madness running great, timber falls theming still in good nick, hobz pit had the same actors as last year and was good, i think missing the 'bang' on the final photoshoot run though? There were even 2 lanes running on the wavebreaker! Lots of benches and sun loungers outside the merry mariner which was ideal for the park areas which look really nice, heading down the bottom end i think a bit of clearing may have taken place on the old dinosaur site as it seemed quite open now, fireball running a fairly good cycle, not high but a decent length.
Taking no card but cash only at the chip and dip saved me a tenna so take note pwh ;)
More paddelers on the lake this year, 4 or 5 i saw.
ALL seats open in wipeout, with orp available on all seats too, just needs track painting now.
Heading back up we were just left with jolly and enigma and the play parks by the sealion show, the parks have been kept in good nick over winter as has jolly, unfortunately enigma is really crying out for its makeover now, it really is in a very very sorry state :( but hey still running great!
And..... to end on a high..... The Tide Traveller was being worked on all day, green jcb type thing in there and 3 or 4 new looking big cardboard boxes of bits ! :)
That is all
Was TTT working properly or just spinning on the floor?
Sounds quite positive over all, really sad to read about Hyper-Drive, I've been trying to keep positive with this but it's hard. Were the other dodgems open?

TTT was in bits really, hoses off the motors etc, but looking promising :)
The other dodgems were running... forgot to mention, i spotted in the maintenance yard a car from the small dodgems painted brown? Just one, and it was just sitting on the dirt so not sure what they are or are not planning there.
Yes Hyper drive looks god awful! Theres a nice looking pvc sign rivited along the front, but other than that it, and, sorry to say it to the purists, the train, should be junked, a definate step backwards which should be nipped in the bud and never spoken of again.
Nice report Quin, shame about Hyper Drive - it still baffles me as to why this was done in the first place but to have it unpainted, unreliable and looking tatty is inexcusable. New queue on Pirate ship? It was only updated 2 years ago.
I didnt mind the old train but theres so many rusty patches and dents painted over badly now :( i think so many of the rides now need a blast and a paint. For us that know the place we accept it, but for new guests it doesnt look very pleasing, when we know they can do great jobs like TTT and timber falls i dont know why that magic hasnt been cast on some of the others over winter.
Normally they'd remove the rust before painting but with the train you'll probably end up putting a whole in it, and they're not willing to spend the money to repair it properly. I think it's small priority.
Hyper drive will properly be finished for the summer, I would hope anyway.
