Ten years after it was closed to the public, tickets for the re-imagined Dreamland Margate are to go on sale to the public this Friday.
Local residents will be the first to have the chance to buy tickets for the attraction from 8am, at Dreamland HQ on Marine Terrace. The first 500 to turn up will also receive a souvenir piece of the original grade II* listed Scenic Railway.
The general public will then be able to buy tickets via the online ticket office from 10am.
The reopening date of the UK's original pleasure park will also be officially revealed that morning and there will be a special plane flyover to mark the announcement.
The people behind the new Dreamland describe it as a "unique vintage-style amusement park with rides, classic side shows, eateries and evocative spaces set within a landscape capable of hosting national festivals, major events and visiting attractions."
At its heart will be the timber Scenic Railway, which has been recreated piece by piece and will be just like new when it reopens in the summer.
The opening of the re-imagined park is made possible by a multi-million pound investment from local benefactors. Thanet District Council, the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Department for Culture Media and Sport’s Sea Change Programme have worked together to finally bring Dreamland back to Margate’s coast line, and boost the local economy for years to come.
