Marble Madness vs Knightmare

So, now that Marble Madness is up and running, are you glad they made the decision to purchase it, over Knightmare?

They have done a nice job of it, but it is a bit bland. If they could have done a similar job to Knightmare, then in my opinion, they could have been onto a real winner.

My vote has to go to Knightmare.

I was always for Knightmare when it first emerged that they were interested. It would certainly stood out and looked a real treat if painted up really nicely. As you said Martyn Knightmare was not in great shape and again having a Schwarzkopf with possible issues with maintenance over the years Marble Madness from a sensible point of view is best. But from a coaster enthusiast, well Knightmare would have been swell, plus I never rode it but now it's gone to Iraq or something hasn't it?

Knightmare wins hands down.
Those Mouse coasters are just too common, nothing special about them.

But there's no reason PWH can't have both ;)

we would struggle to fit another coaster in now unless something was removed - yet i agree it would look good

^ a coaster of Knightmares size yeah, but tthere's plenty of space for smaller coasters. Or even a reshuffle of the current line, that would make some space.

Plenty of room where that go-kart track is.
Or move the Tide traveller/diving show.

Knightmare would have been awesome, had it been purchased, would have really made the park stand out IMO but, at least we have 4 roller coasters now.

I would be tempted to say the Marble Madness if the carriages span around like Magic Mouse, but I think Knightmare would have been amazing!

What were the reasons for not choosing that ride and has it been sold yet?

The asking price was too high. £1.5m if I remember correctly.

I haven't a clue (although I do remember seeing it on for sale on Zamperla's website) I would hazard a guess at around £300,000.

"Saw feels like you're occasionally being punched in the head. Aside from the first drop, The Swarm is boring, forceless and has gimmick seating. Colossus would be good if it wasn't so damn rough, but Nemesis is great. Knightmare still pulls more G's than all of these coasters"

Interesting quote!

just thought i'd post the POV of the ride to annoy you haha

I've never rode Knightmare; from what I can tell, It's a coaster that enthusiasts love - I couldn't see it being a big draw to PWH if I'm honest (in terms of the general public). Marble Madness isn't the ideal coaster either as it seems a bit standard, but I'm presuming it was purchased for a reasonable price and would probably have similar pulling power to Knightmare - so I'm team Marble!

Watch that video, the bit at 0:35 seconds is where the high g's are pulled.

so basically in a short burst it can really beat the others... are the others more consistent across the whole coaster ride then I guess?

All coasters have a high point of G where you pull the most round the track. Nemesis' is the incredible first helix.

Some coasters are intense and pull high Gs all the way round the circuit, some don't pull much at all and some are mixed - obviously it depends a lot on type and design.

The southport rumours have been around for a year nearly... be good to see it take off although the ride is allegedly heavily vandalised

That would explain a reduced price tag maybe, in the latest article there is a picture with the pleasure land owner and a model of the coaster so looks like this story may have legs. Be good to see it used anywhere though rather than be dismantled for scrap.

Yeah it definitely seems like it's going to happen.

I think previous rumours of it going to Southport were based upon Southport being close to Camelot 😛
