I've never been to it before, I can't think where abouts it is? Surely must have seen it on my many trips to the town. PS welcome to the forum benjaminbubble. ;)
ah google street view to the rescue, I know now. Opposite the god awful leisure centre blocking the seafront - who in their right mind ever though that monstrosity was a good idea I do not know!

Well I visited the attraction a couple of years ago and had very mixed feelings about the place. I visited with my wife and her little brother who was about 10/11 years old at the time.
I like the fact that they have tried something different here rather than using the building as yet another amusement arcade. The frontage, café and shop look very striking from the outside and the interior has been very nicely themed.
However, I think the attraction lacks enough interactive elements to appeal to young families. Other than the Carousel, the bulk of the attraction involves looking at objects behind glass. When we visited - near Halloween - the management had set up a very half-hearted "find the plastic spiders" competition. It didn't really add much to the experience.
As it currently stands, I think the attraction would be very appealing to the older generation who will have the patience to stop and read things. I think kids may want to speed through the "boring bits" to get to the carousel ride at the end!
The café is nice and offers a good range of treats. The staff all wear Victorian dress which adds something to the experience.
I think the place has definite potential. The Quality and feel of the place is much higher than some of the other Yarmouth attractions. (For example: the indoor mini golf place in the windmill theatre is a similar sized walk-through attraction and is full of absolute tat and very poorly maintained.) However, without more interactive/new experiences, I feel like one visit is enough.
A few words I'm throwing around at the moment, as your evaluation of the place are exactly the same as mine at present: Edu-tainment, Theatre and Interactive - Just some layers I'm hoping to bring to the place. :)
It's all very different. Having a massive corporate background; I'm used to set systems and procedure. PWH has some, but YW is a different Kettle of Fish. With that however; comes a complete blank canvas. The first thing that has striked me is that unfortunately in recent years; YW is seen as a Tea Room/Gift Shop - with an history museum/exhibition attached. Wrong. There needs to a major shifted in perception. New attractions within YW are a must including: Live actors, Vintage Dress Up ops and barriers removed from the wax works! (People want selfies!) - Just my pinch of salt, and only ideas for now. :)
Although I haven't ever visited the place I can see from the tweets etc that you are aiming to get a younger audience excited. As you rightly say kids find museums fairly boring but if it is interactive then they become exciting places and much more interesting. Even I get tired walking round a room reading extensive text on boards and looking at static displays (although I'm certainly more tolerant if it in my more mature years). I will take a look in on my next visit to Yarmouth.
Thought I'd post this here as I'm rather proud of it. Our immersive murder mystery events are going down really well, with an average of 45 people on each night! See you soon Matt! :)
"This Halloween enjoy Spooky Storytellers at your table for the whole family to enjoy! Whilst enjoying your cuppa, 'Alf' may just take a seat. Will you indulge his passion of telling old folklore tales of witches, ghosts and the infamous 'Black Shuck'?"
Spooky Storytellers and Black Shuck... I'm sure I've heard of those somewhere else before
I've just seen the sad announcement of Facebook that Yesterdays World will not reopen in 2015. Good luck to the entire team with whatever they do next!
"It is with regret we have to inform you folks out there that Yesterday's World will not reopen for 2015. This decision has not been taken lightly by the company directors and a full statement will be issued in the week. In the meantime to all of our guests, past and present - It's been a blast and we shall miss you all.
Thank you for all your support throughout the years. Stay remembering."
