Opps, more spelling errors. If I kept making mistakes id have lost my job by now.
Someone install a spell checker on their computer, or get it proof read first.
I'm well known for making many typos, but thankfully my job doesn't rely on it. :P

I think Bubbles mentioned in another thread that he disagrees with the 'no visible tattoos/piercings' on the PWH application form. What's everyone's opinions on this? I personally think that the park are well within reason to as it presents a clean family and professional image which is important for a family theme park. The reason I ask is the recent 1star reviews on Facebook that are solely because of this:
But it's no different to Disney's policy and to me if an employer wants to employ people who promote a clean & professional family image then I'm for it myself.
Are you suggesting that tattoos or piercings do not 'promote a clean & professional family image' ???? I think it's horrible to suggest theses people are not clean or professional, and that's the kind of discrimination we need to kick out.
I can see how piercings may cause safety concerns, if they're big or long.. or could potentially get lost and I have seen some vulgar looking tattoos (foul language) but the majority of people do not fall into that category. A blanket ban might be the easiest way round it but it's going to hurt your rep, an attitude that's degrading and insulting to the individuals who are generally hard working, professional, decent people. Don't lump them all in the negative category.
Disney referring them as disfigurements and deformity's.. LOL
But as business person I also support the right for an employer to hired who they want, and to have the image they want so I'm very torn on the issue. I think it should be down to common sense, and a tattoo of a duck is harmless and shouldn't cause alarm for example.
Are they allowed to wear turban's ?

I don't think this requirement is aimed at someone who has the odd tattoo or piercing. But if someone has tattoos that cover large sections if skin that are clearly visible then that can be intimidating to certain people. And in my opinion if someone does have extensive tattoos or piercings that are clearly visible then that does affect how they are perceived; it may not be right but it certainly is true.
Yes we shouldn't making assumptions about people, it's so wrong. They're still 'clean and professional'
But a line does have to be drawn I guess, like the taxi driver in Beccles who has his whole face tattooed, that's really extreme and can be a bit intimidating (I think so) but that's rare. I guess there is still a generation who finds it insulting so it may be another 30 years before this attitude is stamped out. hopefully.
Gonna have a generation of tattooed pensioners. lol
But piercings certainly may have safety issues but as long as they don't look like the bloke from hellraiser!
other wise stick them in hobs pit. :P
Is PWH against people with beards? They used to be.

Ha ha that video looked very amusing. It looked like great fun to do hopefully all the staff that get chosen will continue their enthusiasm when working for the park. I did notice a few people who weren't quite as into the happy dance as others maybe they won't get chosen, who knows?
Well not everyone feels the need to make a fool of them self in a 'job interview'
On the other hand if you're an introvert you wouldn't be applying for such a position, bit sad kids are being judged on their happy dance.

They may not be but you're not playing the fool if everyone else is doing it, by not joining in you are are showing that you are not a team player in my opinion and/or you don't respect the people in charge or around you. You're right that if you are not extrovert you probably wouldn't be applying for such a position. The best staff I have experienced at them parks are the chatty, happy ones who look like they enjoy their jobs. All too often a miserable ride op or service assistant can ruin a great day.
It's important to note, candidates are not judged on the dancing section. It's merely there to bring the whole process together and for everyone to just let of some tension/nerves after the groups sessions.
Thanks Ben, that's fair I suppose. Although if it was me employing them if be using it to make a few judgements. Not only the ones who choose to join in my sometimes the ones who take things a bit too far!

I do take offensive to this. I am the kind of person who would NOT join in, that dose not mean I'm not a team player, and it certainly does not mean I have no respect for those in charge, quite the opposite and I can't believe you even said that, or even came to that conclusion.
Being an introvert does not mean you're not chatty, happy and can't enjoying yourself either. Some people feel awkward or lack confidence to 'dance around' publicly, that's no reflection of their capabilities on the job and doesn't mean they're not a team player, or can't interact with the public. I know because I am that person.
Pleased to read the happy dance is not part of the selection process and is just a bit of 'fun' for those who wish to take part. I've never danced in my life and there is nothing in the world that will ever change that, lol (although nobody has offered me a large sum of money yet.... everyone has a price they say :D )

Bubbles, sorry that you took offence to my comments, they were just my thoughts on the matter. I'm not saying they were right but that's just how I would view it. Reading through your comments though I have so say that I was harsh in my views and a bit narrow minded to different types of people. Maybe I should never be allowed to employ people! Actually I have employed people but it wasn't for a theme park...needless to say I didn't get them to do a dance.
I think you were being harsh towards those people, and I would be one of those people and your view of us is in indeed factually incorrect. In my line of work I'm dealing with all sorts of public, clients expect you to be friendly and happy and a high quality professional service which I and people like me provide. Not doing a 'happy dance' doesn't change that.
I could go the other way and say those doing the dance aren't taking their job, responsibilitys and interview seriously enough, lacking professionalism, and I want to know a ride operator is paying full attention, safety coming first and entertaining the crowed second. Being silly tends to prevent peoples ability to concentrate and lack of attention to detail, I but I also know that's an unfair statement to make.
:)
