East Coast Truckers 2013 Report

Well I walked down to the park and as I passed the Tesco garage roundabout I saw the signs on the roundabout !!  Mini but cute, I did photograph one via my phone and not main camera.

Lots of traffic and footfall heading in and it was great to see Wipeout going at 10am with public on...

First few rows left empty in the car park for the trucks and by the time my friend and her family arrived there was a lot of people.

Got in through the booths swiftly and we walked up and I suggested we did Hobs Pit while the wait was not as long - ( new sign outside saying it was a hour from said point ) I can truly say my second time on Hobs Pit and a much better experience - There was more actors and the three of us literally ended up on the floor in a heap at the end and I grazed all my arm as a result and my mate bit her lip - was a bloody good time !!!

Brilliant to see tidalwave open with BOTH lanes so we had a ride - one operator mind you but BOTH lanes were open and ALL chair lift seats were also open.

Wipeout to me felt better and faster than ever before  ????  last two seats were tied up and either a single or another two mid way. Had two rides on this - both great

Me and my mate took a ride on the pedalos !!! I tell ya they were hard work to steer round we were allowed two laps and it was good fun - we even hit the boat in front and lapped them - man we were making waves !!

Karl took his boy on the dodgems and I waited - this ride does need some TLC poor thing - worth noting that the car park bit next to the dodgems was full and it was only around midday.

Merry Mariner was totally heaving and Alexis made a brief sweep through and served some food out and checked on supplies - I like this and reminds me of when the managers use to help us out. All the food looked very nice and to be fair not a bad price.

Castle show next - a different video screen intro to that of what I saw a few weeks ago and slight change in a bit of music here and there - still very good show and there was barely a seat free. We saw the 1.30pm show. Worth noting on the way out of the control booth it still says "CBTV" - brilliant and it made me smile.

We had a ride on the large train right round the park - its a bit shabby behind the go kart area but I did see the old Woody, Clarence and Ronnie images that had been uncovered. Also approaching the station by Wipeout the area underneath wipeout and "behind it" does look a mess and my mates with me commented on that before I did. Nice to see in that station a painting on the wall.

Next ( and for my first time ever ) Jolly Roger - Flipping heck that packs some punch and easily the best drop tower I have ever ridden outside of Drayton Manors. We also roughly counted and we were held for around a minute - odd thing I did notice that there was never a wait for this ride ???

Log flume huge wait time and the dry booth was out of order.

Second time for Hobs was too busy so while 4 of them went on TOTC ( they complained after of the terrible wait time and how poor the attraction was ) so.....

Me and Karl - yes two 30 year olds walked down to SITG - I managed to get in the back seat and I have to be honest it is my first time since the tunnel was removed that I have ridden it ( I think ) It looks bizarre going up without it and I mean seriously wtf !!!!! Worth noting that part of the old tunnel is still bolted on - made me smile. Other bits I noted was how much it still kicks out we both flew around all over the place - had two goes. The station roof was leaking and it all needs a bit of a clean and spruce up and all the lap bars were covered in white gaffa tape. Also nice to see was the old early 90s signs saying way out still up on the station roof - I still remember the days of waiting behind the gates that use to open and getting off on the left hand side underneath the track. I still say this area had the least atmosphere but was very busy - one side of the ice cream was unit WAS open from around midday - which was good to see as was the ice cream unit in the kids bit.

The kids went on Moby Dick and liked it and also Karl took his boy on The go karts - bits I noticed here were some karts said "New Pleasurewood Hills" some said "le Mans" and some said "pleasurewood hills" - whole area looking a bit shabby - really need that death slide back to fill it up a bit.

The Time traveller was out of action all day - not even spinning I did see a couple of people looking it but I also don't remember seeing a sign when we paid saying it was out of order ?

Also out and covered up were the flying copters on the old cine 180 site - It looked to me that they had been out for a while.

Sealions were great and it was totally heaving inside there.

And so the trucks left a bit after five and it was great to hear them honk as they went - Woody came down to wave them all off - the park stayed very busy after and still big wait times for most attractions.

Did not see any one go into LL

I also noted on the big train route when I had a good look inside the old food train unit that there are still some late 80s/early 90s posters inside of the park -  great to see and long may they stay up.

Waffle tent thing by the end of the train platform - seemed busy and the truckers had the palladium suite and outside unit.

I took around 70 photos and so it is tricky to decide which ones to put up but I hope you can understand why I have put up the ones I did take.

We all had a really good day - really good - helped by good weather and a busy busy crowd. I hope all the truckers, the children and the helpers had a good time too.

I should be back on the park again the end of this week - thanks to Ben and a kind offer.

PS - Sorry for the language used on Hobs pit !!!!  lol

Nice report Coolskin, the park looked nice and busy and it seems that the pedalos have breathed some life into that area of the park. I have to say that the paving around Main Street needs redoing. Looking at one of your photos it's all just a mush mash of different concretes and Tarmac. Redoing that area with paving bricks would look so much nicer.

It's so great to see the place looking so busy. I visited a year ago on a Saturday in August and it was dead. This year the place has really turned a corner!

do you reckon PWH staff etc read these reviews? These reviews really provide great advice on areas that need attention

So what's the deal with theses flying copters?
It's also really sad to see them in their current location, it's a prime plot being used up for a poor kids ride.
Possibly one of the worse and pointless additions to the pack in recent years (2008 they came)

The Aeroplanes (Woody's Funky Flyers) have been down for three days, the gear box had failed. We are awaiting replacements parts. We're hoping to move it into Kiddies Zone next year. :)

can the space behind Wipeout be used for ride space or is that for Wipeout access/maintenance?

Although some don't like Dodgems, many still like them (good classic family ride) and it has massive potential to be refreshed + look amazing.

The rough (rat look) of the Karting area in one way suits the theme of the go karts, but again could look amazing with a brighter/fresh shade of paint and some (fake/made up funny) advertisements around the side

I think the main areas that need a winter set/sort is under and behind wipeout and the whole go kart area railway side and track side. I do have a couple more pics to post which i will do at some point
