What's the local thoughts on this? I personally think that it looks pretty good and modern and hopefully will see some nicer infrastructure at PB as a result. What I hope this spawns is the regeneration of GY promenade as a whole. There is way too much derelict land, unused building and what are quite frankly eye sores on what could be a nice looking beach. Great Yarmouth is popular and we do enjoy the odd visit but there is so many things that could be improved along the seafront. Little things like galvanised steel fences surrounding the play areas on the beach, they look hideous. The council should impose or provide permanent plots which nice looking wooden fences around them for these entertainment providers. And whatever possessed them to build a monstrous leisure centre on the beach is beyond me!
Anyway, this looks nice enough. Not sure if the design could have incorporated some more of the the traditional architecture of the past but it certainly looks better than said leisure centre etc! As I said I hope it paves the way for more redevelopment opportunities in the town; and mainly along the seafront.
just to confirm, drove past this arvo and there is NO building work of any description for the edge. The twister is dumped behind the waltzer and they are painting the rollercoaster, the sky drop is still up evolution was down. Is evolution still for sale ?
there was a bit on Yarmouth mercury forums a while back - basically just another red herring like the outer harbour - maybe the other operator will get the licence to do it ?
