Pleasurewood Hills Worst Ride Ever

In this milestone 30th year, Pleasurewood Hills have been celebrating the best aspects of the park since it opened back in 1983.

We've loved reminiscing about the past, but we all know the road has been a bit bumpy... Not every new addition was a triumph. So what do you think was the worst ride at Pleasurewood Hills ever. I'm looking for your suggestions at this stage and will put it to the vote soon.

My vote has to go to the Supertrooper. Ugly, loud and painfully slow to load/unload.

For me it has to be Canyon Raft for these reasons:

1: it was named as if it was a water ride and possibly a raft of sorts on water
2: It was sh*t.

Two good reasons! laughing

I remember reading a newspaper article at the time which very much gave the impression that a river rafting ride was on its way. Was seriously disappointed with what actually arrived.

Me too, I was fooled. As as George W Bush famously once said "There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again." Irrelevant saying but funny nonetheless.

I think it is either the Planes on the quiet route that are still there now or the mini golf.

Eye in the sky. So unnecessary.
Go-karts. Brings the park down.
That silly raft thing that was once on the lake. Rotten to the core
Kite flyer. Not sure who this ride is meant to appeal to?

I personally don't like the Dodgems but I think they're just passable. lol

 I can't possibly agree about the Go-karts.

Yep, the Canyon Raft definitely worked. Only lasted one season and was really dissapointing to ride. It just jerked up and down and side to side without enough speed to offer any real sensation.

Ah, The dogems may be a bit crap.. But everytime i've been on them, You should see how much people love them. The best part being because they're crap.. People can get away with smashing them about! But trust me.. People love the dodgems... Especially when I ram people into walls........ :-)

I have some photos of the supertrooper which I am sure was renamed paratrooper for one season...I have footage of the ride in action from when Anglia tv filmed Christian worship day up there back in 1997....

Didn't use to be £2 once? lol
How many laps does £4 get you? It's another reason to get rid of them.. unless it's making the park money??
Surprised their no charging for a ride on Hobs.. lol to re-coop money and cover costs.. :P

Paratroopers aren't that bad though, Matt?

I think the Canyon Raft thing has to go down as the biggest failure, purely for how short it's life at the park was. I remember visiting the year it was there, and it wasn't even there...?

But the actual worst ride EVER, has to surely be the Sky Screamer.....?

(Dont like the way that photo's are displayed in the retired rides section, takes a while to load them all and you cant use the photo's on the forum....)

My vote for the supertrooper was based on a few factors. To me it summed up the attitude at the time of bunging any fairground tat into the park. Also it looked very tatty, the motor was incredibly loud and smelled strongly of fuel and unlike the ones i've seen at fairs, it didnt have the facility of returning to ground level at the end of he ride and so had to be loaded and unloaded two people at a time. As for the photo gallieries on the site, fear not. I know their limitations and am on the case.

Aladdin was still pretty cool even when it became old. Shame the Dragon didn't work anymore. The queue the other week was quite long, I bet they were disappointed after riding it.

It seems to be a tunnel of love for teens now. LOL

On the subject of Tales of the Coast; it had a crazy queue on 2nd June and we were waiting for a while watching the ride op send around 2s and 3s on boats that could seat 6 or even 8 with a couple if small kids. Is there a reason for this low loading or just that the ride op is too scared to take control of his ride?
