Videos from the Archives

I visited my parents house this evening and managed to dig out some old camcorder videos from my younger years. The following video clips show various rides at Pleasurewood Hills and were filmed during September of 1994.

Waveswinger: http://youtu.be/O3jy9ie1uYw

The Tempest: http://youtu.be/5hW4RSwq3OI

Astroglide: http://youtu.be/DRDPsUFBJ5Q

Eye in the Sky: http://youtu.be/rirfEU87tbw

Just to keep you in the loop, I'm looking to partner with a company in the Summer that converts old VHS/30mm etc to digital formats and link it in with 30 years of Pleasurewood Hills. I'm looking to curate a digital archive of footage of the park. - I've already got some amazing footage during the tests I've been doing, so hopefully you'll see some great stuff over the Summer :)

Great find.
Is that the same Waveswinger today?

Eye in the Sky got to be the worse addition ever to the park.

No the swinger today is just a swing and doesn't "wave" plus it's a lot smaller than the old one. Which was fantastic! Great videos btw Matt, lovely to see the old stuff!

What happened to the old one?
I thought they just re-painted it lol didn't realise it was a different swing.

Oddly enough, the Waveswinger we have now is a LOT older than the one we used to have!

This is a waveswinger, it raises up and then the top rotates whilst tipping up and down creating a wave effect:

This is like the one at PWH which just roates:

And just for the record Waveswingers are the better ride by a long way. Much more fun!

it use to be brilliant then they changed the ride programme in its last few years so the whole thing went straight up ratehr than turn and went up. In fact not sure it even waved in its final years - it was a brilliant ride - do alton towers still have theirs ??

not sure what happened to our one at pwh.

Yeah they do, they moved it from near Rita to Cloud Cuckoo Land and themed it as a Toadstool.

Yes I must sort my dvds out.... I have loads of the park converted from VHS onto dvd.. Well when I say loads like the old Noel Edmonds and Cannonball ITV adverts and when PWH sponsored Anglia Weather plus the Christians Worship Day and the white knuckle ITV day

Get it on the tube. As I said to Matt I run a business doing conversion from VHS, MiniDV, Video8, Hi8, Digital8 to DVD, YouTube or whatever. If anyone can't or can't be bothered to do it themselves I can do it. Just give me a PM.

the waveswinger looks massive too - looks like there's more seats and it spins faster

is there a limit rides like that can spin to, or can they go faster?

One of my clients who I've been converting some tapes for has some old PWH footage from the early 90's . It shows inside Hungry Bears Pavillion with the music box whirlitzer type thing inside. We also have footage of PWH Circus, Pedalos, Gort Fun and The Land that Time Forgot. I 'll get it up tomorrow or Friday for some nice off season viewing.

You're welcome. There's some thing on there I don't recall, like the circus. Why did the big train tunnel go? Those little touches made it more like a theme park. And by golly you're right, so many folk having a great time. Those days have to return!

Great Video Josh! I've started to convert those DVD's you both sent me. I'll get them up on YouTube in the New Year.

I've just uploaded the video from 'An Evening with Woody Bear and his Dad' - It's an hour long and can be found on our YouTube Channel.

In the meantime have a great Christmas and New Year - I'll be able to confirm what is and what isn't happening when I return. - At present things are literally changing on a day-to-day basis!

Ben :)
