Pleasurewood Hills - Bank Holiday Monday 27/5/13 Part 1

I've lost count how many times I've visited Pleasurewood Hills over the years! Loved the place as a kid and now enjoy watching my own children having fun.  Decided on a family day out on Bank Holiday Monday....this is how it goes..

All up early and ready to go! Sun is shining, blue skies, its a beautiful day. Our Crew =  Me, OH, Kids (8,11 & 11) all excited as we arrive at the car park 9.45am.  Safely parked up in the second row, we join the small queue of eager families who are busy chatting about which rides they would do first. The entrance looks spruced up, tidy and welcoming.  Sign in the ticket booth window informs us that the Large train and Timber Falls will not be operating today.  Ticket booths open early around 9.52am and we hand over our Discount Admission Voucher (From Asda Lowestoft) paying £15.50 adults and £13.50, happy with that.  10am. Gates Open - we're in!

Its the kids day, they're very much in control and head straight for Wipeout.  They soon discover from the cheery operator, its not ready to ride for another 20mins and is completing warm-up laps! Kids make haste to Snake In The Grass instead.. no one else has ventured here just yet and the kids have Snake in The Grass all to themselves! I felt sure the kids would have to wait for additional riders, but no... they ride the family rollercoaster several times, just the three of them! They continue to take advantage of the quiet coaster and ride again with a handful of other passengers. The kids love the ride and are buzzing! The Operator of Snake in The Grass is fantastic, all smiles, cheerful, friendly, smart and attentive. He more than makes up for the fact, that the coaster looks a little tired and in need of a paint job.

Dodgems now.. area still quiet and kids get two complete rides, with the entire attraction to themselves.  This is a good thing believe me -  they are terrible drivers and have allsorts of problems trying to keep the cars in the right direction. Kids laughing their socks off, big smiles, having the best time.... hilarious to watch = Happy Parents. The friendly Operator tries his best to give them tips to get going again...  but definitely no Formula 1 driver among my lot!!

Wipeout..  back to Wipeout.  Only a handful of people waiting, good time to ride. Only takers OH and 8yr old. 8yr feeling very smug about being braver than two 11yrs olds!!   Only a few minutes to wait and they are front of the queue. Having the choice, they get comfortable in the very last car, in the rear two seats...  the other two seats in this car remain empty as they are not in use (shame).  Both enjoy the speed and thrill of Wipeout.  8yr old loves it despite comments that being smaller it does "rattle you around a bit but I like going upside down"

On to the Pirate Ship.. no queue to speak of.. almost straight on..  fun ride that makes your tummy feel all funny!  Next stop Jolly Roger...

The first queue as such...   The Jolly Roger.  Two of our crew ( OH, one 11yrs) had previous experience Jolly Roger and were very keen to ride today. The other 11yr old, very scared but wanted a first go and 8yr old always desperate to get on it but previously to short.  8yrs measured... hmmm about 1cm too short maybe... but queues with the others just incase.  The Jolly Rogers goes up and down several times before its our time to ride.  On get two of our crew,  OH waits to see if 8yr old can ride.  The friendly staff member measures carefully, and apologises politely that she is unable to ride this time. We thank him and say we understand and leave the other two to ride.  8yr old not too happy and protests to me  "if you are big enough to ride fast backwards Rollercoasters like Wipeout, you can go up and down".. and "I've been on Sky Drop before".. lol!!    11yrs olds both love Jolly Roger and queue again for another!  We reassure our youngest, next time she will be tall enough!

Not tall enough for Fireball either (blooming 1cm!!), I take littlest to ride the Carousel (no queue straight on) whilst the others have a few rides on Fireball.  They rejoin us to also ride the beautiful Carousel.  The Carousel looks the part, but I must say, getting on some of the higher positioned horses can be a challenge!! 8yr old took some time and several attempts to get on a horse.  Getting off was also challenging.  Non-riding parents be warned, you may be needed to help your little one off and on this one!

First glimpse of the brand new Hobs Pit..  looks great, but queued out at this point...  TIME FOR PICNIC LUNCH BREAK....       to be continued!
